Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:20 GP 1st NAPA RULES (#7, 6-1) just needed a break and it only took new connections a couple of starts to do just that. Work tab is perfect and this filly returns in a logical spot all for a barn that is 14% off this type of layoff. This filly has tactical speed something you have to have on this turf course. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bet
12:47 TAM 2nd KITTENS MISS MOJO (#3, 8-1) flashed speed for about a half-mile before coming up empty when debuting in a two-turn maiden special Jan. 15. The daughter of Kitten’s Joy is meeting much easier in this $16K sprint, and could put it all together at a square price. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:46 PIM 3rd INSIGHTFUL (#1, 5-1), the only three-time winner in the field, might have received a confidence boost with a class-dropping victory here 16 days ago. Pushed a solid pace three wide, went after the leader from the outside on the turn and was simply too good. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:47 TAM 4th LIMONATA (#8, 6-1) began slowly and was never in the hunt at first asking in her lone grass start in a two-turn maiden special at Keeneland last fall. The daughter of top turf sire Lemon Drop Kid deserves a turf mulligan while dropping for her first start for a trainer who’s had a productive meet. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:27 TAM 7th VIGO (#6, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:54 OP 5th STROLLING (#6, 8-1) was favored last out over Cave Run - who was the “subject” of a 36-way shake last week at Oaklawn. This one can make a real impact with a repeat of his efforts from December and January. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:58 PIM 7th Want to give LEBDA (#3, 8-1) one more chance after an even performance without Lasix in the General George. Multiple stakes-winning router has yet to get back to his solid 3-year-old form, but thought his Fire Plug two back was a decent effort. Pressed the pace three wide in that spot, attacked in between horses turning for home and faded just a bit on the inside. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:58 TAM 8th DISTINCTIVE LAD (#7, 12-1) got the dreaded Beyer donut when going long at first asking April 14, but he flashed some early foot then and might welcome the turnback to six furlongs in this $10K tilt. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:37 GP 9th MY DESTINY (#4, 6-1) has solid turf breeding and did try a turf sprint in her debut versus special weights at CD. Return form is only decent and notice this gal only faced four foes in both. Form cycle does hint at better and we like that this filly gets a second crack at the grass. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:59 LS 4th STONE FOX (#1, 3-1) figures to move forward following an encouraging debut where she finished third despite blowing the start leaving from the rail. Mom won her debut and her only sib is a debut winner so she is bred to win early. Not thrilled that she drew the rail again, but she could break a lot better with the experience behind her. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:27 LS 5th SIAMESE (#4, 9-2) will find these a lot easier than she faced in her three starts in Kentucky, particularly Great Island who recently won a $100K stakes at Gulfstream for trainer Chad Brown. The winner and runner-up in her latest both came back to win and ii is possible this gal did not care for the synthetic surface (Tapeta) at Turfway She is back on turf, drops to a new low, and considering that in her best race in North America she did not wear blinkers it is encouraging to see them come off today. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:37 PIM 10th Perhaps last time was the time for SHACKLED LOVE (#7, 9-2), who received a shrewd ride from Charlie Marquez to win the Private Terms at 21 to 1. Although the fractions were solid, there wasn’t much closing going on and Marquez attached Shackled Love right off the hip of MAYTHEHORSEBWITHU. They put on the pressure turning into the straight and eventually wore down the favorite in the final sixteenth. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:41 GP 11th WAITING FOR A STAR (#9, 8-1) is stuck outside but there ends any knocks. What if this mare is a horse for course before anyone knows it? She just ran a Beyer top when first on this sod. Double layoff lines are a thing of the past as this mare strings races together. We love that connections find a spot where this mare can’t be taken. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:07 PIM 11th Looking for a price with FAIR CATCH (#2, 30-1), who might be a bit class-compromised as she steps up into stakes action for the first time. Don’t think she was at her best with blinkers down in South Florida, but ran quite well without them at Tampa and they come off this afternoon. Dueled outside in that $16,000 starter allowance on Dec. 26 and just missed to 24-time winner Fox Rox (came back to run third for $32,000 with an 82 Beyer). Has the recency edge over her main competition. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:13 GP 12th MR. AXEL (#9, 15-1) comes in fresh and that should sharpen his tactical speed that much more. This gelding is obviously better on the grass. We like those turf works even if limited. We think this gelding is now fully acclimated to South Florida and that the class drop makes perfect sense. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:22 OP 11th LIVINGMYBESTLIFE (#9, 4-1) ran a big race in her debut and for the effort earned what ranks as this field’s best career Beyer Figure. For this trip, she adds blinkers. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
