Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:40 PIM 1st GOTTAFLATHAVEHER (#4, 9-2) appears to be rounding back into form for Mancilla barn that is 4 for the last 15 (27%, $3.10 ROI) with older (3-year-olds and upward) dirt sprinters making their third start following a 61- to 120-day layoff. Pressed the pace in between horses last time, emerged with the lead turning for home and was second to Polished Gal (hit the board in her next two starts on turf at Penn National and Delaware with Beyers of 60 and 61, respectively). -Dan Illman 1:13 PIM 2nd AMPLIO ESQUEMA (#1, 6-1) was bumped leaving the gate at Laurel last month, saved ground at the back of the pack, split horses on the second turn, swung five deep turning for home and just couldn’t get past the winner late. Low-profile barn already has two maiden winners on turf this month (My Moonshine at 19 to 1 on September 7; La Silueta at 9 to 2 on September 17). -Dan Illman 1:33 BEL 2nd MAKE OR BREAK (#4, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). :: Want to get your Past Performances for free? He was previously second behind a runaway winner at this bottom level, while leaving BREAD CRUMBS in his wake. -Ron Gierkink 1:46 PIM 3rd SKY PROPOSAL (#3, 4-1), well-bet in first two starts at Monmouth, held off fastclosing Timed Out (next-out 55 Beyer when third in Monmouth maiden special weight) to graduate two starts back, then had some trouble going two turns on turf. Back to more appropriate distance and surface with the early speed to get into the race from the opening bell. Trainer Kelly Breen is 3 for the last 7 (42%, $2.00 ROI) with juveniles moving from turf to dirt. -Dan Illman 1:50 GP 4th RESIDENT (#4, 4-1) ran on well for 2nd for $6,250 here Aug. 6 but failed to produce the same run when 8th for that price here Aug. 27. Walder saw fit to claim him, however, and has super numbers off the claim. While her recent work has been from off the pace note speed shown previously so he’s got some versatility. -Michael Hammersly :: Click to learn about our DRF's Free Past Performance program. 3:04 BEL 5th LOKOYA ROAD (#2, 5-1) was returned from a layoff at Saratoga to make his first start for Maker and wound up staying in to get some fitness after that race was rained off the turf; raced on gamely to pick up late ground going long in his debut, then improve while showing more speed in his second start. -Mike Beer 3:22 GP 7th BUDGET BUSTER (#12, 9-2) rattled off 3 straight smart outings here this spring/ summer, the last 2 being wins. He was claimed by Sano but when he came back at this level here Sept. 4 he blew the start, leaving himself with far too much to do. To his credit, he kept to his task well, passed a bunch and closed the gap. He’s worked well since and with a better start can get a better position, though he the far outside draw is no help. -Michael Hammersly 3:25 PIM 6th HELMS DEEP (#2, 6-1) practiced on dirt first out and now moves to turf, for which he’s bred, with blinkers on for a strong second-start outfit. – Marcus Hersh 3:58 WO 6th DAD’S MISSY (#1, 8-1) has struggled since her nifty score three back over $15K NW2 rivals, for which she got a career high 70 Beyer. The drop to $10K NW3 company could help her snap out of that funk with Wilson back aboard. -Ron Gierkink 4:08 BEL 7th AVA K’S GIRL (#7, 10-1) wound up last after getting bumped early when cut back to sprint last time, then failed to produce the kind of good finish she had shown in her first two starts sprinting on turf and was no threat to some better horses; needs to rebound but is tough if she does as she faces claiming competition for this first time. -Mike Beer 4:27 GP 9th BENNY’S GIRLFRIEND (#7, 9-2) appears headed the right way. She was 2nd in a race like this here last time out Sept. 5 and while she was no threat to a runaway winner she finished well clear of the rest and that run was another move forward. -Michael Hammersly 4:58 PIM 9th DREAM DOCTOR (#3, 10-1) graduated at Belmont following a 166-day layoff, won his 2018 debut at Suffolk after 205 days off and was beaten a combined 2 1/4 lengths in the other two starts following layoffs of 200 days or more. He runs well fresh and is expected to do so again in first race following 358-day break. Performed just fine in last start of 2019 as he saved ground at the back of the pack, split horses in the stretch and finished willingly with a sharp gallop-out. Late-runner should get enough pace to adequately setup his kick. -Dan Illman 5:46 BEL 10th LOOKIN TO FLY (#4, 12-1) made two starts late last year over synthetic at Woodbine and she finished gamely both time while never really threatening at the end; drops for her return while switching to an excellent trainer and is eligible to improve if ready off the bench. -Mike Beer 6:12 SA 6th HANG A STAR (#5, 4-1) need only get back to the form she showed in her last SA sprint, a second to Bellafina, to post a minor upset. Her surprising rise led to some long prices, which could carry over to this spot and produce value. – Marcus Hersh
