DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, October 7, 2022

DRF Staff|Oct 06, 2022
Aqueduct scenic April 9 2022
Barbara Livingston New York racing will be held at Aqueduct until April when the construction currently under way at Belmont will be finished.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:25 GP 1st THE KHOZAN ONE (#8, 12-1) improved at second asking on the stretch and could be ready for best yet especially switching from relatively inexperienced rider to the veteran Panici. Should be prominent throughout. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:14 LRL 2nd PARACHUTE (#6, 6-1) breezed a furlong in 9.4 seconds prior to the most recent auction, and is out of a half-sister to stakes-winning turf router Malibu Way (87 turf Beyer; won debut). Second dam was multiple stakes-placed routing on turf (88 turf Beyer). Sire wins with a rock-solid 15% with juvenile debut runners and barn is 5 for the last 18 (28%, $2.51 ROI) with juvenile debut runners in dirt sprints. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:20 WO 1st CALL ME BROOKE (#2, 12-1) is by the high-percentage debut sire (24% 3yo and up) Bayern, who won the Breeders' Cup Classic. She's posted average works and doesn't have much to beat in this $15K sprint. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:21 GP 3rd FREDDY'S MUSIC (#5, 6-1) checked, lost best chance early on last time. Gets a mulligan, right in thick of things with repeat of previous pair. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:32 KEE 2nd SHE'S ALL CLASS (#5, 8-1) broke from the rail her first two starts - not as significant on turf as dirt, but still less than idea -- and just kind of jumped up and both both races, a SAR turf sprint and a KD turf mile. She's by Gun Runner, whose offspring better suit dirt than turf, and while the dam was a grass horse and has a turf pedigree, her two other foals to race, Akhnas and Canadian Luck, raced with some relative competence on dirt. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:55 GP 4th BLAH BLAH WORLD (#7, 12-1) and OH DARLIN a couple of new faces who might just be good enough to win at first asking if handling the synthetic surface. Former has had a work over the Tapeta holding own with older Mr Leonardo in process and is kin to $312K earner Crumb Bun. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:36 KEE 4th It's possible MARK OF THE Z (#9, 15-1) just can't ever get back to his 2021 peak - but at the expected win price here, it could be worth a bet that he can. Only two of his four 2022 starts on turf, which he needs for his best. Faded off a strong pace with no real excuse (another pace player finished second) two back at IND, but ran pretty much to form two back at CBY, where he had to steady a touch into the turn, losing momentum, coming with a decent run up the rail. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:08 KEE 5th NOSILVERSPOONSHERE (#5, 8-1) fell apart July 29 when ambitiously stepped into the Iowa Oaks, leading to a freshening that ends here, the site of her debut victory this past spring over this 7f trip. If she runs that debut race back, she wins, and the work pattern for a strong layoff outfit says she's going to. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:16 BAQ 6th OLDIES BUT GOODIES (#5, 8-1) was off the Johnson/Trombetta re-claim last time when losing position around the turn and then only working his way clear late, before rallying gamely to gain ground; drops with the back races to strongly contend. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:23 LRL 6th REELED IN (#12, 6-1) is out of a full sister to stakes-placed turf miler Retro (won debut, 77 turf Beyer). The second dam was Grade 1-placed routing on synthetic at two. Trainer-jockey combination sent out juvenile debut winner Skylar's Sister (5-1 odds) sprinting on turf here on Aug. 7. Several workouts match up with barn's Gold Star (scheduled to debut on Thursday). Perhaps they worked in company. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:31 WO 5th GALWAY WATERS (#7, 6-1) won his opener convincingly at 19-1 and then finished second after a three-wide trip at this NW2 OS/$40K class. His tactical speed should come in handy in this six-furlong event with the little-known Josh Scott retaining the mount. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:00 SA 1st This turf mile for maiden 2yos is a good spot for longshot MY PARTNER GLEN (#3, 6-1), following a promising fifth-place debut in which he ran his final furlong in a solid :23.66. That is the fastest final quarter by any in this field. 'GLEN worked well since including a team drill Sept. 22 when he held off stablemate GLENDALE, who ran second in the same race. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:04 WO 6th UNXPECTED TIGER (#5, 8-1) is by the promising freshman sire Good Samaritan and out of a second-out winner who banked $180K and produced the useful Funiculi ($121K). He goes with blinkers and Lasix for the trainer who won with two recent juvenile first-timers, including longshot Hal last Sunday. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:54 BAQ 9th UNION DOLLY (#11, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:08 WO 8th PASSTHEPUDDINPLEAZ (#5, 10-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:48 KEE 10th Liked SOFT TOUCH'S (#11, 10-1) win two back and loved her last one. She has enough pace to get some position despite the wide draw and short run to first of three turns, and think the 1 1/2 miles will prove well within her scope. 10-1 morning-line price would be very appealing. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:00 MED 1st HIGHLY UNLIKELY (#10, 6-1) is an upgrade candidate in his second career start on the turf after he was off the board in his initial attempt, against a short field that featured little speed and favored the speeds (note the inverted "S" in DRF pp's, indicating an extreme edge to speed-types; dangerous given some pace help. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:56 MED 3rd JOY AND PROSPERITY (#7, 10-1) is out of a dam with five career wins, and while all were on the dirt four of those victories came in routes, and she only tried turf once; barn winless with last 12 firsters to start but trainer Tony Wilson does well with horses getting Lasix for the first time as well as with Maiden Special Weight runners. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:00 WBS (Harness) 4th CIEL BLEU (#4, 3-1) improved by more than a second last week and he flew home to win. Four-year-old trotter is already 6 for 9 on the season and gets the call to repeat here. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:20 FNO 9th THE LITTLE H MAN (#2, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Steve Andersen). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:52 MED 5th TEEN DRAMA (#5, 12-1) comes off a win against lesser in her latest, and while the Beyer is a little light compared with the top contenders she's a strong fit based on the figure she earned in her bow, which happened to be at this same distance; has speed but can also rate and that lead to a favorable trip, which she will likely need to win this competitive Honey Bee Stakes. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:31 RP 4th TAYLOR'S VISION (#2, 12-1) is back with Oklahoma-breds for the first time since last season at Remington. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:40 YR (Harness) 9th SUNSETBOOZECRUISE (#1, 9-1) gets major post relief and note the effort he went three back when driver Holland got him in play from the eight hole. This isn't the toughest field of mid-level claimers either. – Matt Rose | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
