DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, October 1, 2021

DRF Staff|Sep 30, 2021
Pro Quality wins the 2021 Florida Sire Wildcat Heir Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Ryan Thompson/Coglianese Photos Pro Quality, the only horse trained by Ralph Catanese, wins the Wildcat Heir Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:50 GP 3rd RIVETING SPIRIT (#7, 9-2) on the improve and may even prove one to catch if away running on drop for this tag. May be right one if she takes to the surface. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:34 BEL 4th MISSION TRAIL (#2, 15-1) overcame a terrible start to defeat low-level maiden claimers after making a long run two back, then faced much tougher off the claim; drops back down for an underrated trainer and she might have more speed than it appears - assuming she can get out of the gate this time. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:06 BEL 5th LINNY KATE (#4, 6-1) got unlucky two back when enduring trouble at the start and then catching traffic again coming to the stretch, only to wind up a gaining 4th; clipped heels after the start last time to wind up last, and was never in position to win that race while once again gaining some ground; will be a better price this time off the claim for a new trainer. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:38 BEL 6th RIVENDELL (#5, 10-1) debuted over this distance and came away a pretty impressive winner while closing down a slow pace, after which she was kept mostly to shorter sprint distances while improving her figures; was rated back to last from the start when stretched back out last time, and she did not kick on strongly at the end; back to turf over a better distance at a price. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:19 LRL 8th ROLL DEM BONES (#9, 8-1), stakes-placed on both dirt and turf, finished ahead of three next-out winners in the Hickory Tree at Colonial (eighth-finisher Determined Kingdom returned to win the restricted Jamestown with a 68 Beyer). Showed speed to clear to the lead and the rail and battled gamely in the stretch. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:30 GP 8th MY SARASOTA STAR (#4, 9-2) obviously a major question off the long layoff but like the confidence shown returning for this tag and did post near bullet work prepping for this. One to catch if away clean. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:16 BEL 9th YARROW (#7, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:26 MED 2nd HEZA KITTEN (#6, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:53 MED 3rd BEACH TRAFFIC (#9, 10-1) is back in for a tag for the first time since the victory against non-winners of four back in July, and though he was off the board in each of his last two starts he didn't run a bad race when against the race flow two back and he was overmatched at Laurel last time; thinking he may be able to run to that Beyer he posted three back given a quick pace up front, and that figure (78) is likely good enough to win this. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:20 MED 4th MODEL BEHAVIOR (#9, 6-1) has been facing statebreds but she's now meeting low-level claimers and she should get an improved race flow after trying to come from off the pace in speed-friendly races in each of her last two starts; dangerous with a better set up, especially if she can stay closer in the opening stages. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:03 RP 3rd JUNESANDRA (#7, 6-1) is back on dirt, site of his best Beyer Speed Figure. He's also a consistent performer who is well-versed at the two-turn trip. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

11:23 RP 8th GOLD STREET (#2, 9-2) was part of a quality field of runners last time, with the winner millionaire Welder. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
