DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, November 25, 2022

DRF Staff|Nov 24, 2022
Tampa Bay Downs turf racing
Tom Keyser First post for Tampa Bay Downd racing is scheduled for 11:55 a.m. ET on Saturday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:12 LRL 3rd SUPREME LAW (#7, 8-1) might ultimately wind up a grass horse as a half-brother to multiple stakes-placed turf router Don't Blame Judy (92 turf Beyer) out of Grade 2-placed turf router Zultanite (84 turf Beyer). He is by one of the better debut stallions (Constitution wins 18% with first-time starters), however, and the barn is 3 for the last 8 (38%, $5.83 ROI) with firster in maiden claiming dirt sprints at Laurel. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race

1:20 WO 1st MIDNIGHT SAINT (#8, 6-1) rallied wide from 11th to finish an encouraging fourth over an inside-favoring track when debuting in a $10K sprint. The son of Midnight Storm is bred to run on and could put it all together in this $10K route. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

1:51 WO 2nd GIANT CRITIC (#9, 12-1) earned a 79 Beyer two back when second in a $7.5K Tapeta route won by Solar, who returned to finish third in a tougher starter/optional claimer. A wide trip on the inner turf led to his downfall most recently. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

2:06 TAM 4th FELIX THE FOX (#6, 6-1) usually goes longer but he did win in his lone try at this distance, which also happened to be over this strip; he was third in a route at this same class level last time and he can win this with a late run if he gets an honest pace to chase. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

2:16 AQU 5th STAGE LEFT (#3, 4-1) was claimed out of a win for $25k earlier this year and he ran better than it looks in his first two starts for the new connections, including that near-miss in June when nearly recovering after getting shut off in the stretch; one final chance after getting stuck on a dead rail two back and then getting forced out last time to wind up wide behind a front-running winner. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

2:35 TAM 5th KITTEN WITH A WHIP (#5, 12-1) is back in for a tag and this class drop figures to move her up, as she was unable to threaten in her last few starts against allowance company; can make the last run if she gets a clean trip and the race flow develops as expected. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

3:05 TAM 6th LOVIN MAKES CENTS (#5, 8-1) exits shorter races and lands in a sprint that's light on speed, which could mean she's able to shake loose in the opening stages; back from a layoff but he ran well off a similar break back in June and she can steal this if the fractions are mild and she can work out a forward trip. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

3:09 LRL 7th ONE TEN (#4, 8-1) put it all together in his last two starts with one-sided wins in carbon-copy fashion. Swept wide on the turn to brush past the leaders, then kept on rolling in the stretch. Could use some pace help as he faces stakes company for the first time. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race

3:23 WO 5TH COHERENCE (#4, 15-1) raced wide throughout over an inside-biased track when fifth last time in an open maiden special weight route. He's adding blinkers for this easier OS/$40K contest and should be dangerous with Salles back in the saddle. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

3:43 AQU 8th YES AND YES (#10, 10-1) has had issues at the start of his recent races which have forced him to race from off the pace; started back in excellent form earlier this year while winning three in a row for Donk and he is probably better going this distance than he is in the shorter sprints upstate; rebound chance at a price if he can get away cleanly this time. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

4:05 TAM 8th There's a good amount of speed in this sprint, and that should work to the advantage of a filly like PEACELOVENKARMA (#11, 8-1), who has proven she can sit off the pace and make one run; she exits an optional claimer where she was making up some ground in the lane but she could be in line for a big step forward today if the fractions are rapid, and she's able to improve in her second start off the short rest. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

4:09 LRL 9th TRES MARIA'S DREAM (#6, 7-2) seems well-entered for circuit debut after facing males for $50,000 22 days ago. Raced in between horses at the back of the compact field and couldn't make an impact against that gate-to-wire winner. Barbosa departs for Meet Me At Sunset. LUV U MARY JANE (890 lbs. on Nov. 6; -1 lb. from prior start) appears to be rounding into form. Tracked in between after a half-mile going two turns earlier in the month, then dropped inside and slid through along the fence turning into the stretch. Gave a good try, but couldn't get past pacesetting Churchill invader Top Mule. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race

4:21 WO 7th GUARD OF HONOUR (#6, 8-1) finished on the edges in both of his starts since a second to Gaston on the grass Aug. 21. The son of Honor Code has worked steadily leading up to this maiden special and could prove best over another longtime maiden, BILL NEEDLE. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

4:39 TUP 5th JAZZ TOWN (#3, 6-1) goes second off the layoff and drops in class. He has some speed but we see a stalking trip today especially with the half furlong cut back. This gelding won the last time he tried the distance and did so at 43-1. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

6:45 GG 7th This race is likely to have an intense early pace from Lotsa Pepper and Lagatha, which could help CANAM GAL (#7, 6-1). Drawn on the outside in a field of seven, Canam Gal won a five-furlong turf race from a stalking position in September, catching LOTSA PEPPER in the final furlong. Canam Gal finished second and fourth in two starts at six furlongs at Fresno in October and at Golden Gate Fields earlier this month, and can thrive at this shorter trip. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race

8:40 WBS (Harness) 6th EMMY LOU HAYES (#1, 5-2) Trainer is so hot right now that she gets top billing here on blind faith. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race

9:59 RP 5th RONALD DALE (#7, 4-1) is back in the claiming ranks and back in the statebred ranks and the last time he faced such foes for this price he was a winner. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race

10:55 MED (Harness) 13th TUFFENUFTOWEARPINK (#1, 12-1) picked up spots and gained ground from an outside post on November 11. He moves inside on the gate tonight and gets reunited with driver Todd McCarthy, who guided him to a victory at Harrah's Philadelphia two starts back. – Greg Reinhart | Get PPs for this race

11:23 RP 8th CHEROKEE LEGACY (#7, 9-2) faced some of his division's best last out in the Oklahoma Classics Night Classic Cup and did well to split the field. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
