Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:40 PIM 1stAlthough IN A SPIN (#5, 6-1) received cozy setups in her last two turf outings, she charged hard in the stretch both times to prevail and retains upside potential. Nice trip under Forest Boyce 26 days ago at Laurel as they saved ground behind a red-hot pace, remained on hold on the second turn, angled to the far outside, and made the last and best run. She should kick once again in the lane. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:00 BEL 1st VAMONOS (#3, 10-1) the lone runner in this field of five juveniles with a prior race, that coming in a straight two furlongs at Parx; that experience cannot be underrated, as he did not run poorly there despite lacking the early speed required to be successful in that kind of race; makes his second start with more distance to work with and some pedigree to back him up. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:12 PIM 2nd MANKLIN CREEK's (#4, 9-2) lone win came over course and distance, and he might be rounding back into form in third start following 225-day layoff. Gave an even try against a useful group of bottom-level sellers last month (the third-finisher returned to run second in a $16,000 "two-life" with a 62 Beyer). Think he'll run on in the stretch, but his lack of early zip is a concern in a relatively paceless affair. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:42 PIM 3rd MOLISE (#3, 15-1) didn't do much in debut sprinting on dirt against next-out winner Wet My Beak (58 Beyer in $40,000 waiver at Pimlico), but think she'll appreciate switching surfaces and stretching out. Dam won the Woodbine Oaks going nine furlongs over synthetic while the second dam captured three grass races. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:03 BEL 3rd MRS. GREEN (#4, 8-1) breezed the bullet 9.4 as a 2yo last March, then failed to make it to the races after briefly getting on the tab over the summer; training steadily up to this with the pedigree to be effective sprinting on the grass while facing a field of experienced fillies that all have plenty to prove. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:14 GP 3rd NERVE (#1, 8-1) showed lot of promise at 2, missing a head behind subsequent turf SW Last Leaf. Got in much needed 3yo bow vs. older horses, could be long gone if away running and aggressively handled early on from the rail. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:32 BEL 4th BARBARA (#7, 5-1) made her dirt and sprint debut two back at Tampa and improved immediately while showing speed to contest the pace and then running away from that field in the stretch; returned in a tougher spot 12 days later and ran well again while contesting along the inside into deep stretch and just missing second; draws outside with speed and gets Irad. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:12 BEL 9th SWEET LIES (#8, 8-1) looked like she needed that first start sprinting on dirt when racing without much urgency, then switched to turf and stretched out, only pull a no-chance trip after being rated back once again; returns sprinting on the drop. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:34 GP 9th HIGH PRESS (#1, 10-1) back to what may be preferred surface and well spotted for this tag to run down what figures to be honest pace. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:53 WO 5th DOT'S VISION (#4, 8-1) is a longshot possibility in this $20K seller. He stalked the leaders along the inside over an outside-favoring track before flattening out to fourth in a recent optional starter won by EPILOGUE, who benefited from the bias while closing from the back of the pack in his season debut. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:35 LS 1st CAPT. ST. JACQUES (#7, 5-1) is appealing as a winner over the local course. He also hooked a quality winner in his last start. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:15 SA 9th This N2L starter allowance turf route is a good spot to take a shot at a price with FOR THE GOOD TIMES (#1, 8-1), who had a brutal trip finishing fifth last out in a similar race. He broke slowly, checked off heels, got into more traffic trouble on the far turn and actually finished fairly well for fifth. Reunited with the jockey who rode him to a maiden victory last spring, 'TIMES can spring an upset with a clean trip. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:55 LS 5th SCREENPLAY (#6, 5-1) showed excellent speed last out on the cutback from a mile to six furlongs. He also has an age edge on some of these. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:20 WBS (Harness) 8th GOT THE GOLD (#5, 2-1) shoots for a three-peat here and she looked particularly sharp flying down the center of the track in the lane for the win last week. She won’t be 5 to 1 tonight like she was in those two wins, but she should be tough to beat; best bet. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
10:00 MED (Harness) 11th ALTHEA (#3, 15-1) is a horse I considered last time hoping she would “try” when in reality it was unlikely. Tonight she lands in an absolutely perfect spot where she could win and come back in a similar class next week. This field is soft and I’ll be surprised if driver Steve Smith doesn’t put her in play. – Derick Giwner | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
