DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, May 26, 2023

DRF Staff|May 25, 2023
Gulfstream Park dirt racing, 2018
Barbara D. Livingston First post for Gulfstream racing is scheduled for 12:50 p.m. ET on Friday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.

12:50 GP 1st ZINGALES KING (#7, 6-1) is by a 16% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO's only). His dam went 28-5-8-3 and earned 212K. This is her first foal. Works are fine and this barn is 21% with debut types (flat bet profit). TITAN is by a 7% debut sire. His dam went 40-7-6-5 and earned 296K. Three of four sibs won. Works are well spaced and we like this outside post for a debut. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:26 PIM 3rd LIBRARYOFCONGRESS (#5, 8-1) switches surfaces with turf in his female family. The dam is a half-sister to multiple stakes-winning turf router Giant Run (96 turf Beyer) and Grade 3-placed turf router Who's Cozy. The second dam beat males in the Grade 2 Jersey Derby on grass. Barn's win percentage jumps from 9% (debut) to 18% (second-out), and this colt likely lost all chance when bobbling at the start against odds-on, front-running winner Mine Run. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:39 WO 2nd GENTLE SEAS (#5, 12-1) is by the fairly hot sire Midshipman, who's gotten 14% debut winners. The 4yo is debuting with blinkers and Lasix after posting several above-average works. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:10 WO 3rd FRIENDS FOR LIFE (#7, 5-1) has worked nicely for her first outing since an Oct. 16 fade job in the 1 1/16-mile Princess Elizabeth Stakes. She was previously competitive when sprinting and should be ready to roll for successful layoff trainer Simon, who sent out comebacker Twin City to take Sunday's King Corrie Stakes. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:26 PIM 5th TULIP LIL (#4, 6-1) seems well-entered for career debut for trainer-jockey combination that sent out first-time starter She'll Make Waves (13-10 odds) to an open-lengths win in a similar $12,500 maiden seller on 2/25 at Laurel. She's out of stakes-winning dirt sprinter Jolie Ange (84 Beyer), herself a half-sister to multiple stakes-winning dirt sprinter Bravura (74 Beyer), multiple stakes-placed dirt sprinter Staubach (won debut; 81 Beyer), and stakes-placed dirt sprinter Kittihawk (54 Beyer). -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:29 PIM 7th WINE COLLECTOR (#4, 8-1) breezed a furlong in 10 2/5 prior to the recent auction, and is from the first crop of multiple Grade 3-winning dirt router Flameaway (won first two starts at two). The dam is a half-sister to stakes-winning dirt router Run With the Lark (95 Beyer) and juvenile stakes-winning dirt router Marc's Rainbow (91 wet-dirt Beyer). This is the family of Grade 1-winning turf router Live the Dream. Barn sent out 9-1 firster Tocayo to run second at Laurel on 5/7. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:00 GP 7th RASMALAI (#1, 4-1) has trouble putting races together but when she does run it is often better than not. There just isn't that much pace in this race and we think this mare can take advantage. This mare returns to a barn that had her before. She broke her maiden here even if on the turf something she isn't bred for. We think she is much better now than then. Curious as to price. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:33 GP 8th PARTY FAVOR (#5, 7-2) won like a good thing in her debut and that is no surprise due to favored status and 520K price tag. She has worked three times since just as expected from team Pletcher. Added two furlongs is a plus. New rider is noted as Reyes leaves for the Joseph runner but that is fine with us. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:40 BEL 8th SWEET FRANNY LU (#5, 6-1) returned from the layoff with a good effort last year, before dominating entry-level NYbreds in her next start; had a big excuse in her first start in this condition, then was taken back to last behind a rated pace and forced into an early, wide run before the layoff; better than she looks but has to be ready off the bench. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:50 WO 8th ARAMOS (#12, 6-1) raced outside while closing for second over a speed-favoring track in the sprints when debuting at this price here Dec. 4. Salles retains the mount for a trainer who won with a square-priced comebacker May 14. PIDIN prevailed in a three-way front-end battle before securing second as the chalk in his encouraging comeback. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:12 BEL 9th WATASHA (#3, 5-1) never really was able to build on the clear-cut maiden win off the layoff last October, for which he earned an 86 Beyer; just ran here last week, where he landed in a very fast allowance and could not contend; interesting switching back to turf on the drop, as he didn't run poorly in his only prior start on this surface while in a live race. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:28 GG 7th JACKS OUTLAW (#4, 5-1) has won his last two starts in two-turn turf races in $12,500 claimers, leading throughout a race at 1 1-16 miles last October and stalking the pace on April 22. Jacks Outlaw will have a jump in class for this $20,000 claimer and may be well-positioned to win consecutive races for the first time in his 28-race career. Jacks Outlaw should have a pace to follow from runners such as Rough Night and Supermazel. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:00 GG 8th From an inside post, BEROLIJEAN (#1, 9-2) can be a late factor in this conditional $5,000 claimer at a mile. Beaten a nose in a similar race on May 4, Berolijean can be well-placed as a stalker, a style she showed in her last race. Berolijean won in that manner in a $4,000 claimer for non-winners of two at a mile in February. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
