DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, March 20, 2020

12:45 TAM 1st LADY BREANNA (#5, 6-5) has a fairly big edge in figures and also figures to have a pace advantage over the majority of these, as she has speed and there’s not a lot of obvious pace in this opener; likely to stalk expected pacesetter PLEASANT BUFFY (#3, 10-1) and get first run on that rival. The latter has a chance to steal this if she’s able to shake loose and back down the fractions. She may well need to post the best Beyer of her career to win this but that’s within reach if the fractions are slow enough; consider a two-speed exacta punch. -Kenny Peck
2:18 TAM 4th DYNAFORM (#1, 2-1) was perhaps overmatched in his local debut, as he failed to run to some decent figures he posted in his two prior starts, at Fair Grounds; expecting improvement from him at this level, as he’ll be very tough at this level if he can run to those Louisiana Beyers. -Kenny Peck
2:30 OP 1st MANDY (#5, 9-2) makes the move to two turns and she has a nice foundation of races for the task. She also gets good pedigree support for the added distance demands. -Mary Rampellini

3:20 TAM 6th AMERICAN DRIVEN (#5, 6-1) ran a very enterprising race in that debut. He was caught wide on the first turn but powered to the lead down the backstretch and held the advantage into the lane, weakening only late but doing well to save the show. He stopped on a loose lead last time but that was against better and he likely bled there, as jockey Ricardo Feliciano never asked him for run off the turn, and the 5-year-old bay gelding returns with Lasix today; big threat here, especially if he can get clear easily enough in the opening stages, as expected. -Kenny Peck
3:51 TAM 7th GUERRERON (#8, 9-2) made a mid-race run at the lead in his most recent and was rebuffed, though he continued well enough to the wire to save the show; prior effort, also at this level, was decent enough, and though he’s widest here he has the tactical speed to get position and there are a couple of likely pacesetters to his inside to help set the table for his late run. -Kenny Peck

3:54 OP 4th The consistent WILL B LATE (#4, 9-2) faces older rivals for the first time, but also moves into the Arkansas-bred ranks for the first time with the move from Delta Downs to Oaklawn. In addition, she could sit closer to the pace here than chief rival DENA’S BOLD MOVE. -Mary Rampellini
3:55 FG 6th LADY BE GONE (#2, 8-1) flopped last time with blinkers added, and they’re off again now. First time turf and the dam’s sire is a major La-bred grass influence. Could find the fence from this inside draw, and the inside path could be golden with the temp turf rail coming down for this card. -Marcus Hersh
4:23 OP 5th CARTE BLANCHE (#2, 9-2) has hooked quality winners in each of his last two starts and could be sitting on a peak performance here, in his third out since November. -Mary Rampellini
5:51 OP 8th ESTILO FEMININO (#7, 9-2) wasn’t bad at all in a race at this level Feb. 7, her first start since May. She’s set to move forward over a track where she excelled a year ago, while her favored stablemate, Mia Mischief, is shaking off rust. Another shorter price, Hotshot Anna, is best on synthetics, all right on turf, and not the same on dirt. – Marcus Hersh
7:08 SA 7th LAST OPPORTUNITY (#6, 6-1) ran on well in his U.S. debut to be 3rd in a G3 at DMR. He then chased the pace in another stakes here Feb. 29 before fading. He gets some class relief and a return to sit-and-finish tactics might get the job done at a price. – Michael Hammersly
