DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, March 18, 2022

DRF Staff|Mar 17, 2022
My Prankster wins the 2022 Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Barbara D. Livingston First post for Gulfstream racing is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET on Friday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:33 GP 2nd FUTURE FLAY (#2, 4-1) might prove controlling speed on stretch to seven-eighths and not re-unites with the guy who guided her to maiden win here late last fall. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:46 TAM 4th HELLO ROSIE SAY (#6, 9-2) was behind a couple of these last time but that was a most unfavorable race flow, as she was trying to close in a race that was lacking pace and resulted in a two-speed exacta; she can turn the tables today if presented with a better set up. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:01 GP 3rd TRUE JEDI (#3, 8-1) certainly bred to be a quick one being kin to Shancelot but also a half to $189K turf earner Little Baltar. Works seem to be good on both surfaces. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:17 TAM 5th JOYOUS TIMES (#9, 7-2) has the speed to stay close from the start, no small edge in a race that's light on obvious pace, and she could in fact get first run at stretch-out sprinter Miller's Maiden; no real threat when third last time but she has no real chance there, breaking through the gate prior to the start and then caught stuck in traffic for much of the running behind a gate-to-wire winner. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:02 OP 3rd LADY SHAMAN (#5, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mary Rampellini). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:47 LRL 7th TAYLER'S CHROME (#5, 6-1) continues to drop in search of her correct class level and she exits a strong $12,500 seller that produced three next-out winners (Acadian Girl returned to win by seven lengths in a state-sired allowance with a 72 Beyer). Chased three wide around both turns in a race dominated throughout by the top-two finishers, she can get forward from the jump this afternoon. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:50 TAM 8th TENEBRIS (#6, 4-1) is out of a dam, Starless Night, who won her own debut as a 2-year-old and went on to win a stakes sprint that same year; her lone starter to race, Tuanis, also won his own bow, and this gelding is working like he has some speed. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:09 GP 7th MAYOR REMO (#5, 6-1) just failed to last while showing big improvement second over the Tapeta, might not look back this time. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:20 TAM 9th SHINBORO (#5, 15-1) was off the board when last seen but he weakened only late there after making a premature run down the backstretch; figures to be overlooked some here but he stands to improve in this finale given a better-timed run. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:25 AQU 7th LEELOO (#7, 7-2) ran better than it looks in her debut last November, then pulled a better trip and crushed a couple of these same rivals to win her next start over a wet track; went favored in the Franklin Square last time but chased a fast pace away from the strong rail and tired in the stretch; nicely drawn on the outside with Lasix on. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:28 TUP 3rd TANGLED THOUGHTS (#5, 5-1) is by a 9% debut sire. His dam was un-raced. One of two sibs won. This gelding is a January bred and therefore has an age advantage everyone. Works are OK and connections find a reasonable spot. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:44 GP 8th MISS MIKAELA (#3, 5-1) has trained forwardly for return first off the claim from high percentage barn. Should lead these a merry chase. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:56 TUP 4th FATS DOMINUS (#4, 9-2) catches a race with no pace so his route speed should be him on the front end even though he cuts back to an elongated sprint. He gets in light and that should help with said speed. Form cycle hints at better and this gelding has hit the exacta in 7 of 15 local tries. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:32 AQU 9th CINDERELLA'S CAUSE (#3, 6-1) wasn't sharp when dropped in class two starts back and failing to make an impact as the favorite; chased from the inside while stepping back up off the claim last time, and never really had enough while settling for third over a sloppy track; think she can do better as she puts the blinkers back on for Englehart, who has historically been much better second off the claim. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:39 OP 8th CADDO RIVER (#5, 4-1) draws an improved post over his last start and is appealing as a runner who is both a stakes winner and Grade 1-placed over the local strip at Oaklawn. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:10 OP 9th JUNESANDRA (#2, 4-1) seems like one who will make good use of the bit of added real estate he picks up for this, the third start of his form cycle. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:00 MED (Harness) 4th This is a sketchy group and the type of spot where a Mark Silva trainee would normally step up. Silva took a shot first-over with SVENGALI (#4, 4-1) last time and backed up after a bid. Don’t be shocked if he is sent to the top this time. – Derick Giwner | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:00 WBS (Harness) 4th TREASURED TEE (#9, 3-1) finds a field that he is supposed to beat if he is sound. He was smooth in his qualifier on 3/11 and he trotted strongly through the wire; top call. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:35 YR (Harness) 9th MISSISSIPPI STORM (#4, 5-2) has been very live at the Open level and now gets to drop to face a bit softer; Fanning trainee should get the job done. – Matt Rose | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
