12:00 GP 1st LYRICAL (#5, 4-1) had to take up hard near inside into far turn in debut now drops to more suitable spot. Expect big improvement. -Mike Welsch 1:00 WO 1st MAJESTIC MELODY (#2, 10-1) wasn’t an impact player in his two April starts on the dirt at Tampa, but he worked a bullet from the gate on the Tapeta the other day and could come to the forefront in what’s essentially his third race off a long layoff. His trainer has scored with two Florida shippers at this young meet. -Ron Gierkink 1:02 GP 3rd TAYLORSINITIATION (#1, 4-1) made nice middle move, bogged down in deeper going near rail last time vs. similar, as good as any in this tight fit. -Mike Welsch 1:29 WO 2nd SOUPER PECAN (#7, 12-1) got away slowly and was blocked on the turn before checking in fifth in her 4yo bow 12 days ago. She should be more prominent in this longer sprint. -Ron Gierkink 1:34 GP 4th MONEY FACTOR (#2, 20-1) drops, shortens up in distance, should come flying late at a solid price with a little help up front. -Mike Welsch 2:37 GP 6th FOREVER MO (#5, 10-1) back to preferred surface for first time since switching to Avila barn and note that bullet drill for this. Zayas sees fit to take call again. May offer some value in wide open spot. -Mike Welsch 2:58 LRL 5th Thinking that COBH (#6, 9-2) might be ready for her best wheeling back on short notice in the third start of the form cycle. Must prove that she’s as effective at this distance as she is going shorter, but can get up close to the pace and might work out a good outside tracking trip. -Dan Illman :: Get the DRF GamePlan Playbook each day with a DRF+ Pro subscription. The 4yo is shedding the blinkers, and would be dangerous on a repeat of his wide-closing second over an inside-biased track Dec. 15. -Ron Gierkink 3:33 LRL 6th MAKOTO (#6, 8-1), a $75,000 weanling, $50,000 yearling and $310,000 juvenile purchase, drops in for $40.000 for his first start of the year. Took on a decent field in his career debut on dirt at Monmouth last summer (the horse that was disqualified from the win returned to run third twice in New York for Chad Brown with stereo 72 Beyers). -Dan Illman 3:59 BEL 6th VOLIERO (#11, 4-1) draws the far outside post for the third straight race but may be a bit sharper this time as he makes his second start off the layoff after getting caught on the outside early off the pace last time in a race that was dominated up close; showed some potential as a 2yo. -Mike Beer :: To stay up to date, follow DRF on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter 4:32 BEL 7th We’ll see if RINALDI (#9, 3-1) needs one off the long layoff, as seems to have been the case for several of his starters so far at the meet; hard on this field if he is close to ready based on his 3yo form which saw him win a pair of Stallion Series races over the talented Funny Guy before running an excellent race in a tough edition of the Grade 3 Saranac. -Mike Beer 5:04 BEL 8th HANNAH’S SMILE (#1, 9-2) failed to fire off the layoff last time but won’t be too hard on her for that one as she was in a very tough spot that day vs. several fillies who appear to have stakes potential; overall turf sprint form is strong and she has the tactical speed to get the right trip in this spot. -Mike Beer 5:40 LRL 10th GEYSER (#7, 5-1) was shuffled to the back of the pack soon after the start of his most recent turf outing on October 4 and finished decently through traffic to finish second to favored McPherson, a gelding that returned to place third in his seasonal debut against starter-optional company with a 71 Beyer. Although the late-running tactics from his last three starts would put him at the mercy of race and pace luck, he’s shown the ability to sit closer to the leaders in the past. He won off a short layoff to kick off his 2019 campaign. -Dan Illman
