DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, June 24, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:10 WO 1st BIG BAND LUZZIANN (#5, 6-1) folded in the final furlong after leading the way in her second start off the sidelines in a 6 1/2-furlong sprint. Her speed should be sufficiently honed for the move out to route in this inner turf tilt, which is her favorite trip. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:32 BEL 2nd SEEDS OF TIME (#6, 7-2) dropped to his level off the Gargan claim last summer at Saratoga going longer and weakened as the favorite, then wheeled back quickly for this trainer going seven before going away; arrived in good form from out of town last year and can factor here if ready off the long break. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:38 LRL 3rd GERRYS GEM (#6, 9-2) ran okay in his only try on turf two back and will find these easier than he faced running in a $25K maiden claimer on the main track in his latest at Pimlico. In his race on turf, he broke well enough, but ended up being buried on the rail while appearing to be full of run. He could be tough to reel in if he breaks as well and receives an aggressive ride by Karamanos. The only concern it has not been a very productive race. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:00 MTH 1st BABY CAKES (#8, 12-1) is out of a dam who won three races, two of them dirt sprints, and she has produced four multiple winners from as many starters; works hint at some speed. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:28 MTH 2nd LOOK OUT LAMBO (#6, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:10 LRL 6th MR. D'ANGELO (#6, 6-1) returns to the course he won the $127K Maryland Turf on in 2019 and he has been right there in most of his races here. He did not get beat by much when was coming off a lengthy layoff in his latest, should move forward, and he will not mind the added distance. He will need a pace to work with and there is some potential speed in the field. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:12 WO 5th BROKE AN BROKEN (#3, 8-1) raced three-wide most of the way over an inside-favoring track when third in his first start back while protected by waiver. That race should set him up nicely for this longer route. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:44 WO 6th BATTLE OF YORKTOWN (#7, 20-1) has worked nicely for his first appearance since late in the 2021 meet and could make some noise with Moran aboard for the first time. Seven-eighths on the main turf seems like a suitable trip for the son of superb grass sire Declaration of War. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:08 BEL 7th DIRECT ORDER (#8, 6-1) stepped up a bit off the claim last time while stretching out slightly and failed to fire in a rare disappointing performance; better than that and returns to the level of the claim in a race that might set up well for him. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:40 BEL 8th The 49 Beyer assigned to TIMBUKTU (#8, 8-1) for his debut win last summer as a 2yo doesn't reflect how well he ran that day while continuously improving his position, before coming wide to contention and then fighting off a rallying rival to the wire; started back vs. a couple of these same rivals and got held up a bit in some traffic, before finishing gamely late for third; has distance on the bottom on his pedigree and is a threat to improve again with his return out of the way. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:59 GP 5th KIZZY (#7, 6-1) hard used on the lead, did well to finish fourth in a race that collapsed late returning locally several weeks earlier. Looks like good steppingstone to this spot while getting veteran ride up for today's assignment. May not look back. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:12 BEL 9th MRS. GREEN (#3, 8-1) debuted going six and looked like many firsters from this barn, as she broke slowly and then looked a little green early, before making a game run through the stretch while not appearing to be all in; can improve quickly with that experience out of the way. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:16 MTH 8th OUR LUCKY MAN (#7, 5-1) endured some traffic trouble in that last try at Penn National but he did well to just miss, getting the place with a stretch run; tactical speed should mean he's once again ideally spotted behind the pacesetters. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:30 GP 10th TORA LORA LORA (#1, 9-2) ran well returning to Tapeta and dropping to $12,500 for first time earlier this month while beating 8 of 10 rivals and not facing any tougher in the finale. May prove last gal standing in a field loaded with fainthearted speed types. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
10:23 LS 7th SILVER WINGS (#11, 4-1) was third last out in a race that went in good time. He also has speed and a post that might give Valdez-Jiminez options. EL PANDO gives up recency to these, but showed a good deal of talent last year when he won his maiden and a stakes in what serve as his two career starts. -May Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:00 WBS (Harness) 1st LLOYD WRIGHT (#8, 3-1) was a $17K Harrisburg buy, impressed in his lone qualifier, making a quick rush to the front then holding off the pocket sitter with driver Young sitting like a statue in the bike. He gets the nod to kick off the Pick 5. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:55 YR (Harness) 4th CAROLINA MAGIC (#1, 4-1) hasn't shown much this season but his last race was an improved effort and he was claimed by owner Milici, who had success with this gelding in the past when he was listed as trainer. He's missed a couple of weeks but does land the best post and picks up leading driver Jason Bartlett. – Matt Rose | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:30 MED (Harness) 10th DOCTOR BB (#2, 10-1) starts on Lasix for the second time, and I believe he finds a softer spot than the NW3's he's been meeting up with over at Harrah's Philadelphia. – Greg Reinhart | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
