Debra A. Roma First post for Saratoga racing is scheduled for 11:10 p.m. ET on Friday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:20 GP 1st How long has it been since we last had a grass race here? It will be interesting to see how this course plays. HIGH LATEEN (#1, 10-1) is by a 12% debut turf sire. His dam missed the board in only turf start. One of two sibs is a multiple turf winner of 47K and the other hit the board. We like that connections waste little time finding this guy a turf route. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

1:30 GP 3rd ZEALOT (#4, 4-1) did win her first two starts and both came on the synth. Those turf tries weren't the best but also on the grass versus better. Layoff and class drop should do the trick. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

2:17 SAR 3rd FIREBALLIN (#4, 5-1) did the racing after a slow start to win on debut. He is 0 for 8 since then, though he has run well several times along the way, including the effort two back when putting away odds-on Illmatic on the pace, only to get gunned down by an in-form rival late; had an excuse last time when bumped/steadied at the start to wind up out of position in a race that was dominated on the lead. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

2:51 SAR 4th Guessing with a price and a race that lacks appealing options. Thought BELLAMY (#4, 15-1) ran well while on a difficult turn back in distance in January; he was subsequently moved up in class, and actually ran well again while trying to take the race to some faster rivals early, before tiring; was back to rating when wide behind a dominant, wire-to-wire winner at this level two back; blinkers on for this, and he is sure to get overlooked off the claim away from Rice. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

4:42 GP 9th MALCOLM X (#7, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race

5:09 SAR 8th PARIS CARVER (#2, 12-1) ran pretty well behind Breeders' Cup winner Balantina on debut, before getting in too tough in her only other start as a juvenile; not going to rate the synthetic try off the bench (where she ran fine); was back to the grass last time, and she finished strongly to close that race down after getting cleared by main rival Italy in the early stages; interesting stretching out with plenty of pedigree to get at least this far. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

5:34 LRC 4th TOO MUCH INFO (#1, 7-2) is a seven-time winner who is eligible to this $20k claiming N2L sprint because his wins were for low claiming. (The clause in the race conditions state "races for $12.5k or less not considered in eligibility). 'INFO finished second in a relatively fast low-level claiming starter 12 days ago, he is quick enough to establish position from the inside post, and on paper is simply fastest in the field. His main rivals are stablemates STAY FOR THE BOOM and MAURY WILLS. – Brad Free | Get PPs for this race

5:41 SAR 9th Hard to tell what was behind PRIME AURORA (#2, 9-2) in her debut, but she was impressive regardless, winning that race in fast time and doing so under an almost disdainfully confident ride; has worked fast since and might offer a fair price here for a lower-profile trainer. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

7:42 LRC 8th ISLAND PARADISE (#7, 5-1) drops from Cal-bred maiden-50 to bottom-of-the-barrel Cal-bred maiden-12.5. His winter speed figures on turf rank among the highest in the field, and though this is his first try on dirt, turf runners often handle the LRC dirt track. – Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
