DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, July 26, 2024
?q=100)
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:10 SAR 1st ALLABOUTTHEMONEY (#1, 12-1) has been freshened up a bit since failing to handle a step up in class and going off form in the spring; returns at the right level and has races good enough, and he can save some early ground off the projected fast pace in this spot. – Mike Beer
1:44 SAR 2nd SUPERSTARSUSAN (#9, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).
2:34 GP 4thBELLA MENDY (#5, 5-1) is by a 13% debut sire and a 9% debut turf sire. Her dam went 10-4-1-0 and earned 82K (9-4-0-0 on the green for 74K, won sod debut). This is her first foal. Works are well spaced including some quick drills. – Scott Ehlers
2:41 WO 4thTRINITY PARK (#6, 8-1) was gelded during his spring vacation and could be rejuvenated as he drops from $16K NW2 company at Gulfstream to meet $7.5K NW2 opposition. Alderson is 1 for 6 at the meet for Dunslow. – Ron Gierkink
3:45 WO 6thFOREST WOODSMAN (#1, 12-1) got away slowly when bumped before ending up seventh after a four-wide trip when exiting the sidelines in an inner turf dash. His debut on the Tapeta a year ago was good and the lightly-raced son of Old Forester could break through with a tightener out of the way. – Ron Gierkink
3:51 MTH 5thGULF COAST GIRL (#4, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck).
4:50 WO 8th WETIKO (#8, 10-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).
5:18 GP 9th TWIZZLE (#7, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).
5:18 MTH 8thSHESASUPERFREAK (#1, 8-1) could be the controlling speed in this seemingly paceless finale, and given a clean break from the rail and a loose, uncontested lead she may be good enough to steal this; she faded in her seasonal debut after the layoff but she may have needed that one. – Kenny Peck
5:45 SAR 9thGENERAL JIM (#2, 12-1) was first back from a long layoff when chasing wide and tiring behind an aggressively-ridden Baby Yoda, who returned to win a Grade 2 in his next start with a 102 Beyer; gets Lasix for the first time as he switches from turf to dirt and cuts back for his third start off the bench; top effort puts him squarely in the mix and this might be his next distance. – Mike Beer
