DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, January 15, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:25 LRL 1st EXPECT THE SUNRISE (#1, 8-1) was naughty behind the gate prior to a wide debut run in a key sprint (the runner-up returned to win by 14 lengths with a 76 Beyer), then showed improved speed when stretched to this distance. Set a four-ply pace in between horses, cleared to set a pressured pace on the rail and tired. The runner-up from that race returned to finish third in a maiden special with a 47 Beyer. Should be forward again from the inside post, and it’s too early to give up on this pedigree as a half-sister to stakes-winning turf sprinter Everything Lovely and stakes-winning dirt sprinter Come Sundown. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:35 GP 1st SADIO (#8, 6-1) caught a wet track and a pretty decent field turning in even try in debut, has gotten plenty of work under his belt prepping for 3yo bow against much softer. Should get plenty of pace to run at in this one. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:42 TAM 1st BABIE MONSTER (#5, 4-1) earned a strong 64 Beyer for the win two back at this distance (par for the class and distance is 55), and though she was off the board when she moved up to this level last time she didn’t run badly, and wasn’t pushed late when it was clear she was beaten; back at six furlongs today and capable of making the last run given a clean stalking trip. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:50 AQU 1st BLACK IRISH (#3, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:12 TAM 2nd MI CLEOPATRA AND I (#1, 5-1) impressed with a strong late run to win her local debut here two back, and if she gets an honest pace up front she may be able score again here at a higher price tag; well off the board last time but she’s easily forgiven for that failed turf test. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:53 LRL 4th EXPECT INDY (#3, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:12 TAM 4th MISS ALEX (#6, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:23 LRL 5th CATCH YA LATER BRO (#4, 5-1) tracked the leaders outside, ended up four wide in between rivals entering the turn, raced behind horses turning for home and splashed home with mild interest near the inside. It was a promising first start off the claim and he returns on short notice with a slight class drop. Lack of speed is a concern, but he should appreciate cutting back in distance. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
