DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, February 14, 2025

DRF Staff|Feb 14, 2025
American Mandate (2) finishes second in a December 2018 maiden race at Aqueduct
Joe Labozzetta/NYRA First post for Aqueduct racing is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET on Friday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:10 AQU 1st HAWKSTONE (#1, 6-1) is a DRF (Mike Beer).

1:24 GP 3rd GLORY HALLELUJAH (#6, 6-1) makes third start and first on dirt as part of a field loaded with faint-hearted speed types. Last work on dirt promising enough to give her top billing for this tag. – Mike Welsch

1:30 OP 1st The card is highlighted by an allowance sprint that drew five stakes winners in the field of six. In the opener, A DOLLAR A DAY (#4, 4-1) is appealing on class as she faced steeper last time. She also draws an improved post over her most recent out. – Mary Rampellini

2:04 AQU 3rd POWERFULLY BUILT (#4, 6-1) was off the layoff last month when showing good speed before weakening late in a race he likely needed; 10-time winner doesn't need the lead, but he can make it here and is hard on this field with his good race. – Mike Beer

3:04 AQU 5th INDIANQUEST (#1, 15-1) shaped with some potential early on before being routed to turf for some reason; endured a couple of tough, wide trips around two turns when stretched out recently, and he had little chance in that last one when away from the pace over a track that was carrying speed; better than he looks and should be a fair price. – Mike Beer

3:11 OP 4th STUCK N SNOW (#5, 15-1) is appealing from a class standpoint as he has seen steeper. – Mary Rampellini

3:44 GP 7th FLY THE W (#9, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch).

4:14 GP 8th LILY BIRD (#8, 6-1) comes off best yet on graduation day from a Beyer standpoint and nicely spotted back for same kind making first start with winners. Appears to be holding that form nicely off recent bullet drill on dirt. – Mike Welsch

6:23 OP 10th ONE WAY OR ANOTHER (#12, 10-1) is on top of her game as she's seeking her third straight win. – Mary Rampellini
