DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Friday, August 26, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:39 SAR 2nd MISCHIEF MOTION (#5, 10-1) debuted sprinting on turf and looked very green while getting outrun early in a race that was dominated up front by an odds-on favorite; actually picked up a bit of a run through the stretch of that race in a useful experience; bred for dirt and switches right over with Lasix on. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
3:09 WO 5th STOP THE HUMBUG (#8, 6-1) was stuck in traffic for quite a while before landing on the edges last out on the Tapeta. The veteran has run well on the turf without finding the mark, including a third on the inner course last August. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race
3:24 MTH 4th MINING CHROME (#6, 7-2) was a good 2nd in that last one, rallying late into a controlled pace to finish behind only the perfect-trip sitting favorite; the resulting Beyer gives her strong credibility and she can make the last run if she gets honest fractions up front. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
4:02 GP 3rd BOSTON PRINCESS (#2, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Marty McGee). | Get PPs for this race
4:11 WO 7th DRAGON'S KEY (#6, 7-2) met much tougher in his last few vs. OS/$40K maidens, finishing a flat sixth most recently near Boxer Brief, who subsequently romped for $25K with a 66 Beyer. Leading rider Kimura takes over for the drop to $25K, and he's 2 for 6 at the meet for Tiller. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race
4:48 MTH 7th WORLDS ON HIGH (#8, 4-1) adds blinkers for this but would be best served by employing his usual stalking tactics, as this sprint is loaded with speed and should feature a quick, contested pace; looking for his first win of 2022 but he had excuses in all three of his losses this year, including a couple of slow starts and an unfavorable race flow. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
5:03 SAR 8th CLASSIC COLORS (#9, 8-1) wanted no part of that longer distance last time while trying open company again; returned from the layoff looking better than ever while closing that field down under strong handling despite having no pace in front of her; has the talent to go with these horses and drops back to a better distance for this. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
5:16 MTH 8th CLASSY UNION (#5, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race
6:47 SAR 11th Despite starting for an excellent first-out trainer, DRESSEDFORTHEFIFTH (#3, 5-1) looked like a horse that was not quite ready in his lone start last May. After lacking early speed, he was ridden along while always staying over behind horses and wound up last at the field came into the stretch; once wheeling out for the stretch, he raced on without threat to the leaders while appearing to really need the experience. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
6:50 GP 8th The highly useful Fla.-bred TREVESS (#3, 4-1) has racked up quite a nice record (39-9-5-8) when maintaining pretty salty company amid the circuit's best filly-mare turf/synth sprinters, and most of her opposition here lacks that tried-and-true component; somehow still fits at this 1x level when doing what she does best, i.e., going 5.5 panels; ought to be there or thereabouts again today, as she most always is. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race
9:20 WBS (Harness) 8th MISS ROCKADALI (#2, 4-1) consistently produces a good effort every week. That’s how she worked her way to this level from racing in $8,500 claimers in February. She is sharp and she should be right there again tonight; top call. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race
