12:58 GP 3rd First-off-claim numbers (.21 win percentage and a positive ROI) for Juan Arriagada make SUN SQUALL (#8, 4-1) a prime consideration here, even on the requisite class raise; looking for this 3yo to show marked improvement under new silks. – Marty McGee
3:06 GP 7th Not thoroughly convinced STARSHIP MALLOMAR (#6, 8-1) can win for the first-ever time on grass after having just captured an off-turf MSW race, yet she does seem as good as any in this particular N1x spot; tote price usually square on The Marlins Man’s runners. – Marty McGee
3:18 WO 5th MIZZONA (#3, 4-1) brings solid turf form against lesser opposition to this $40K Tapeta tilt, and she appears to be a good fit. Leading rider Hernandez takes over and is 2 for 3 at the meet for this live barn. – Ron Gierkink

3:28 SAR 5th GOLDEN OAK (#10, 15-1) a first time starter by 18% turf sprint sire Goldencents, and he is out of a dam who showed good speed in her career while winning twice (once on turf), and whose first foal also showed a lot of speed while going 0-3; will take the new face at a price for an underrated trainer vs. a field that has already had their chances, for the most part. – Mike Beer
4:04 SAR 6th SHAMROCKED (#5, 4-1) returns from the layoff taking a drop in class for a trainer having an excellent meet up here, and he has plenty of races that make him tough in this kind of race, if he’s ready to go; has tactical speed and ran better than it may appear vs. a much better field up here last summer. – Mike Beer
4:57 WO 8th A GERSHWIN TUNE (#12, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).

5:46 SAR 9th ARGONNE (#2, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).
6:20 MTH 4th TERPEYE (#6, 5-1) moves back into the condition claiming ranks after a close-up third against starter foes. She appears to have stepped up her game with the move to turf a few races back and for her effort last out earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure. – Mary Rampellini
6:39 DMR 4th Midwest shipper OPERATIC (#5, 4-1) arrives in solid form. She was claimed for $16K from a runner-up finish in a race which the third- and fourth-place finishers returned to win. OPERATIC runs for the same claim tag, with a top rider for her local debut. The veteran mare can kickstart summer for a stable that is uncharacteristically quiet. – Brad Free
8:00 DMR 7th BRITTLE AND YOO (#2, 4-1) graduated with gusto at CD May 30 and was claimed, but was in too deep first time vs. winners there June 13. She’s been freshened, drops and moves to turf, for which she’s bred. It’s also nice to see Rispoli take the call. – Michael Hammersly
