John Hartig has been named chief executive officer of Sports Information Group, the parent company of Daily Racing Form. His hiring was announced by Arlington Capital Partners, the majority owner of SIG.\nHartig, 51, will join Jim Kostas, president and general manager, in further developing SIG's growth strategy.\n"I am thrilled to join Sports Information Group and partner with Jim Kostas," Hartig said.\nHartig is a 26-year media industry veteran who served most recently as the CEO of Brandport, an interactive media company, serving consumer-targeted advertising. Previously, Hartig was senior vice president of consumer marketing and development for the Hearst Corporation. He led the marketing operation and circulation profit center of Hearst's portfolio of magazines in addition to overseeing development activities, including early digital strategy.\nBefore his arrival at Hearst, Hartig was president and CEO of The Parenting Group, a division of Time Inc., where he was responsible for all business and content operations of Parenting, BabyTalk, and other related print and electronic properties. While he worked at Time, Hartig co-led the introduction of InStyle magazine as well as serving as a senior marketing executive at People magazine.\nHartig is a graduate of California State University and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
