DRF Breeding Standout: Well-bred Our Amazing Rose scores for Repole, Pletcher

Trainer Todd Pletcher continued his strong early start Thursday at Saratoga Race Course in the historic track’s fifth race on the card, when Our Amazing Rose, a $325,000 purchase by owner Mike Repole at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March selected 2-year-olds in training sale, romped by 7 3/4 lengths in her career debut.

The daughter of Three Chimneys Farm stallion Yes It’s True stalked the pace early but took control midway through the turn and opened up in the stretch, finishing five furlongs in :57.68 under a brisk hand ride from John Velazquez.

Bred by Whispering Oaks Farm and Ted Lucas, Our Amazing Rose is out of the unraced Silver Deputy mare Just For You, who has also produced two-time winner Naseeb. Just For You is out of the stakes-placed Seattle Song mare My Song For You, a half-sister to champion and leading sire Capote, French St. Leger winner and sire Exceller, Grade 3 winner and sire Vaguely Hidden, and stakes winners and sires American Standard and Baldski. Just For You has also produced Grade 3 winner Minister’s Melody, who in turn is the dam of Grade 1 winner and young sire Bob and John.

Repole bought Our Amazing Rose from Top Line Stables, as agent, at the select OBS sale.
