Dress to Thrill retires

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Grade 1 winner Dress to Thrill has been retired, the filly's Irish-based owner, Walter Haefner's Moyglare Stud, announced Tuesday.

The 4-year-old homebred Danehill filly last raced in the Nov. 30 Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood, finishing 12th. She will return to Ireland and will be bred to leading sire Sadler's Wells.

Trained in America by Christophe Clement, Dress to Thrill won 2 of 7 starts here. Her wins came in the 2002 Matriarch and in this year's Grade 3 All Along Breeders' Cup Stakes. In England and Ireland, where she ran at ages 2 and 3, Dress to Thrill won the Group 2 Sun Chariot Stakes and the Group 3 Desmond and Matron stakes.

Dress to Thrill is a daughter of the Affirmed mare Trusted Partner, winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas in 1988 and dam of the stakes-placed Caerleon colt Act of Defiance.
