Drefong returns to work tab

ARCADIA, Calif. - Drefong, the champion sprinter of 2016, worked three furlongs in 37 seconds at Santa Anita on Sunday, his first workout since early February.
Trained by Bob Baffert for Susan and Charles Chu, Drefong has not raced since winning the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita last November. Baffert had Drefong in training briefly during the winter before opting to rest the 4-year-old through the early months of the year.
Baffert is targeting a summer return for Del Mar, with the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at six furlongs on July 29 as a goal.
Drefong has won 5 of 6 starts and earned $1,203,040.
Abel Tasman, the winner of the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 5, worked six furlongs in 1:11 for Baffert. Owned by China Horse Club and Clearsky Farms, Abel Tasman is scheduled to start in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at a mile at Belmont Park on June 10.
