Dreamy Gal easily handles foes in Princess of Palms Stakes

PHOENIX – A freshening and getting away from some tough Southern California foes helped Dreamy Gal get back on track as the 5-year-old daughter of Ez Dreamer easily captured Saturday’s $25,000 Princess of Palms Stakes at Turf Paradise.
Owned by John Pendergast and trained by Molly Pearson, Dreamy Gal ($5.40) proved a prompt favorite under Daniel Vergara as she stalked the early pace set by dueling leaders Sunrise in the Bar and Beauty Black in this six-furlong event for fillies and mares. She took the lead down the backstretch, quickly opened up through a strong half-mile in 44.68 seconds, blew the race open into the lane, and comfortably held to win by three lengths.
Ismelucky sat back and finished well for second, though she was never really a danger to the winner. Senoradiablo likewise sat well back and finished decently while very wide for third in the field of 10.
Dreamy Gal ran the distance in 1:09.65. The winner’s share of $14,725 pushes her earnings to $167,158 from five wins in 21 starts.
