Dream of Summer retired

Brad Free|Mar 27, 2006

Grade 1 winner has been retired and will travel to Kentucky next week to be bred. Trainer Juan Garcia said Sunday that owner-breeder Jim Weigel decided to breed Dream of Summer rather than race her another year.

A 7-year-old California-bred mare, Dream of Summer won 10 races and $1,191,150 from 20 starts and scored graded stakes wins in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park, Grade 2 A Gleam Handicap at Hollywood Park, Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo at Del Mar, and Grade 3 Gardenia Handicap at Ellis Park.

Garcia said discussions were ongoing regarding which stallion Dream of Summer would be bred to.
