Doyle high on Tiz Breathtaking ahead of Shady Well

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Trainer Mike Doyle has a long history in the Shady Well Stakes and will try to win it for the fifth time Saturday at Woodbine with the promising Tiz Breathtaking.
Off a narrow loss in the My Dear Stakes, Tiz Breathtaking should be favored in the 5 1/2-furlong sprint for Ontario-bred 2-year-old fillies. She won her 4 1/2-furlong debut on June 10 by two lengths in 52.39 seconds.
“We really liked her first time out,” Doyle said. “She’d done a lot of things really nicely, and we never really asked her to do much. She did well when she ran in the maiden race.”
In the 5 1/2-furlong My Dear, Tiz Breathtaking came wide from three lengths off the pace to finish a neck back in third. She was pushed out in deep stretch by My Gal Betty, who was subsequently placed third by disqualification. Tiz Breathtaking got second money, and the speedy shipper Stifling inherited the win.
Doyle is enamored with Tiz Breathtaking, who was bought back from the 2017 Keeneland September yearling sale for $210,000 by Windhaven Farms.
“She’s just so laid-back and really nice about everything,” Doyle said. “She’s absolutely beautiful to look at, just gorgeous.”
Eurico Da Silva picks up the mount.
A field of seven was assembled for the $125,000 Shady Well, carded as race 7 on the 10-race program.
