Doyle has two for Fury Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Trainer Mike Doyle will take two shots at Sunday’s $150,000 Fury Stakes at Woodbine, where he runs Crumlin Spirit and Tiz Imaginary in the seven-furlong test for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies.
Crumlin Spirit will be among the favorites off her upset score over Caren in the Lady Angela, a seven-furlong Ontario-sired stakes. Doyle said the daughter of Woodbine Mile winner Court Vision is in fine fettle after breezing five-eighths in 1:02.60.
“She had a nice work last Saturday,” Doyle said. “She had a great winter at Windhaven, where she was bred. She came [to the track] looking deadly. She’s gotten big and strong. At this point, she’s happy and doing great.”
Tiz Imaginary notched her first two outings at 2, most notably the six-furlong Fanfreluche Stakes for Ontario-breds. She had been sidelined for five months before finishing third in the slow-paced Star Shoot Stakes on April 16, a race she needed badly, according to Doyle.
“She had to get tired in the Star Shoot,” Doyle said. “She had quite a bit of stall rest after her last race at 2 with a bruised knee. We thought she was hurt more than that, but we got lucky with that, and it wasn’t. She came in well after training in the arena at Windhaven.”
Five others were entered in the Fury, which is a prep for the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks.
