Dowse’s Beach figures to sit nice trip

ELMONT, N.Y. – The distance may not be ideal, but the pace scenario could be for Dowse’s Beach, who seeks his fourth consecutive victory in Wednesday’s $85,000 turf-allowance feature going seven furlongs at Belmont Park.
Though Dowse’s Beach won at seven furlongs against New York-breds here on July 2, his two most recent victories came at 5 1/2 furlongs, both at Saratoga.
Trainer Christophe Clement said, “I prefer him a little shorter, but he’s doing great, so let’s go.”
Dowse’s Beach, a 4-year-old gelding by Disco Rico owned by Frank and Patricia Generazio, is 5 for 12, with two of those wins coming at Belmont Park. He will be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. under the top weight of 124 pounds.
Dowse’s Beach does his best running from a stalking position, and there seems to be the potential for a lively early pace in this race, with Plainview, Heuston, and perhaps Tetradrachm getting involved early.
Mutin, Mr. Online, Plainview, and Tetradrachm are all entered for the optional-claiming price of $80,000.
