Double Star powers home in Equine Sales Derby

Double Star became a stakes winner Saturday night at Evangeline Downs, when he powered home by 2 3/4 lengths in the $75,000 Equine Sales Derby. Honor My Speed closed for second, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of third-place finisher Discreetly D.
The Equine Sales Derby was a one-mile race for 3-year-olds who graduated from designated auctions in Louisiana.
Double Star ($4.20) settled in fifth early as Tensas’s Boy took the field through an opening quarter in 24 seconds and a half-mile in 48.39. The eventual winner took over through six furlongs in 1:13.56 and went on to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:40.21.
Jose Guerrero was aboard for trainer Bob Schultz.
Double Star has now won 3 of 10 starts and earned $110,820. He is a son of Star Guitar and he is owned by Four Star Racing.
