Double Chiseled drops from Grade 1 company for Mr. Jet Moore Handicap

Double Chiseled will get some class relief Sunday, when he tries to nail down his first career stakes win in the Grade 3, $30,000 Mr. Jet Moore Handicap for Quarter Horses at Ruidoso Downs. He will be dropping in from Grade 1 company for the 400-yard race, one start after hooking past world champion Stolis Winner in the Texas Challenge Championship at Sam Houston.

Double Chiseled finished eighth in the race run July 10 He is the highest earner in the Mr. Jet Moore field, with a bankroll of $135,608, and could be sitting on a peak race for trainer Albert Franco in what will be his third start since April. Prior to the Texas Challenge Championship, Double Chiseled was second in a trial for the race June 26.

Double Chiseled established his class early in his career, when as a maiden he was fourth by a half-length in the Grade 1 Dash for Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park in October 2008. A month later, he was fourth by three-quarters of a length in the track’s Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity.
The chief threat Sunday could be Chicks Gotta Secret, who was third in the Grade 3 Higheasterjet at Ruidoso on July 3. The race was his first out since January.
