Dontlookbackatall, who showed promise in three starts as a 2-year-old, makes her sophomore debut in a first-level allowance race that will serve as the feature race at Gulfstream Park on Thursday. The one-mile race on turf for 3-year-old fillies drew eight horses and goes as the seventh race on an eight-race card that gets underway at 12:40 p.m. Eastern. There is a $75,000 claiming option available in the feature, with Fast Kimmie the only horse in for the price. Dontlookbackatall, trained by Christophe Clement, will be making her first start since finishing fourth in the $120,000 Stewart Manor at Aqueduct Nov. 5. She forced an honest pace before weakening late in the six-furlong turf dash. The daughter of Peace and Justice went into the race off a solid effort in the Grade 3 Matron on the same course Oct. 8. It was a completely different trip, however. Breaking from the inside post in the 11-horse field, she was stuck behind horses during the early stages of the six-furlong Matron. She finished well to get up for fourth when jockey Manny Franco wheeled her to the outside soon after turning for home. Danse Macabre, who finished third, paid $26.80 when she made her next start in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride at Gulfstream on March 4. Dontlookbackatall will be going a middle distance for the first time Thursday. Her dam won going a mile on turf for Clement, and Dontlookbackatall is a half-sister to three-time dirt route winner En Wye Cee, who finished third going 1 1/8 miles on turf in the Grade 3 Knickerbocker. :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team. Available every race day.  In addition to her pedigree, Clement the past five years has a 15 percent strike rate with horses going a mile or longer on turf that were coming off layoffs between 61-180 days. The one caveat is the last 12 of those going a middle distance for the first time all lost. Nonetheless, Dontlookbackatall could end up favored. She won her debut, so we know she can fire fresh, and leading rider Edgard Zayas will be aboard when she breaks from post 5. The Jose D’Angelo-trained Alternate Rock is also stretching out to a middle distance for the first time. The Florida-bred daughter of Alternation had a rough trip when she finished fourth at this level going five furlongs on turf at Gulfstream on March 1. Alternate Rock is the first foal out of Kitzy Rocket, who won twice going long on turf with the shortest victory coming at 1 3/16 miles, and this could be what she wants to do. Two starts back on Jan. 26, she won a first-level allowance race for Florida-breds going five furlongs on Tapeta. Alternate Rock should get a nice trip from a forward position after breaking from post 2 with Hector Diaz Jr. up. Scottish Symphony, trained by Mark Casse, finished fourth despite getting bumped early in her only try on turf, which came in a first-level allowance race with a $75,000 claiming option going 7 1/2 furlongs Jan. 12. The Pennsylvania-daughter of Mendelssohn did not fire when she came back Feb. 12 going a mile and 70 yards on Tapeta. However, she chased a fast pace while going widest of all, so it was not surprising she came up empty late. The runner-up, Breath Away, came back to win the $104.500 Sanibel Island with an 84 Beyer Speed Figure April 1. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
