Dollarization stuck on rail once again in Jump Start Stakes

Dismissed at long odds in last month’s Lite the Fuse Stakes at Pimlico, Dollarization benefited from a hot pace and a sweet pace-tracking, ground-saving trip to upset graded winners Wondrwherecraigis and Jaxon Traveler.
On Tuesday at Parx Racing, Dollarization figures a shorter price when he breaks from the rail in the $100,000 Jump Start for Pennsylvania-bred 3-year-olds and up at seven furlongs.
Trainer Tim Kreiser wasn’t pleased when Dollarization drew the inside for the Lite the Fuse. He had previously scratched Dollarization due to an inside draw, but kept him in at Pimlico as the race would prove a nice prep for the Jump Start.
Dollarization’s tactical ability served him well as he settled behind the dueling speeds, then took advantage when they tired.
“We were hoping something like that would transpire,” Kreiser said. “Kind of a perfect trip from the one-hole.”
Kreiser claimed Dollarization for $16,000 in the fall of 2021.
“When I claimed him, he was very nervous,” Kreiser said. “He’s matured. They ran him long all the time when I claimed him. We turned him back, and he just seems like a much better sprinter.”

Trainer Butch Reid entered four sons of Weigelia, led by last year’s Jump Start winner, Beren. A multiple stakes winner with career earnings approaching $900,000, Beren is currently on the longest losing streak of his career. Reid still has faith in the 5-year-old’s ability.
“He’s been drawing a lot of inside posts,” Reid said. “He’s never been the best horse away from the gate, so a couple of his races have been compromised because of that. Physically and mentally, he looks and acts the same. It’s just a matter of getting the right trip.”
Smooth B is one of the more hard-hitting horses on the grounds and exits a runner-up effort over boggy ground in the Grade 3 Turf Monster. Third in this race last year, the dependable 8-year-old runs well on any surface.
“He gives you his best every time,” Reid said. “He comes back to the barn hollering and screaming like a 2-year-old.”
Ninetyprcentmaddie turned back to a sprint with some success when finishing fourth in the Grade 2 Gallant Bob for 3-year-olds.
“I think with a little better trip, he might have been closer,” Reid said. “He looks like he wants to be a come-from-behind sprinter.”
Ninetyprcentmaddie is cross-entered as a main-track-only entrant Sunday at Aqueduct. Reid said he would run in New York if that race is moved to dirt.
Fore Harp ran second in an off-turf, two-turn stakes at Parx on Sept. 23, but Reid admits the gelding is “definitely better on the turf. If I could find a right turf race for him, we might pass on this race.”
