l? S?antle pulled off a narrow victory in a messy renewal of the Group 2 Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday. The Godolphin-owned Schiaparelli was allowed an uncontested lead and was still in front when he hung a right across the course approaching the eighth pole and squeezed Alwaary against the rail. Doctor Fremantle took advantage to edge out Schiaparelli by a half-length, covering the 1 1/2 miles on good turf in 2:30.80. Alwaary passed the post a neck back in third but was awarded second at Schiaparelli's expense by the stewards. There was a four-length break back to fourth-placed Enroller, but he was disqualified for a separate piece of interference and placed sixth. The 8-1 Doctor Fremantle, a 4-year-old son of Sadler's Wells trained by Michael Stoute, was ridden by Ryan Moore and is owned and bred by Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms. * Arcano justified his 8-5 favoritism in the July Stakes with a three-quarter-length victory over Orpen Grey, with Red Jazz another three lengths back, third in the field of 11 2-year-old colts and geldings. Arcano ran the six furlongs of the Group 2 July in 1:10.53.
