Doctor Dino, the winner of four group or graded stakes in three different countries, among them the 2007 Man o' War at Belmont Park, was retired from racing on Wednesday because of a tendon injury he apparently suffered when he finished eighth in the Dubai Sheema Classic on Saturday. A 7-year-old French-bred by Muhtathir trained in France by Richard Gibson for Dr. Javier Salmean Martinez, Doctor Dino won the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin twice. He also won two stakes in France, the Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly and the Group 3 Prix Andre Baboin. He ran in seven different countries during his career, placing in the Dubai Sheema Classic, the Singapore Airlines International Cup, and the Champion Stakes in England. He also finished a troubled third in the 2007 Arlington Million and was fifth in last year's Canadian International. Doctor Dino won 9 times in 30 starts for earnings of $3,841,882. Plans for stud duty have yet to be made.
