Doc McCrocklin leads all the way in TQHA Sale Futurity
Doc McCrocklin led throughout for a neck win over 4-5 favorite Hock It to You in Saturday night’s $435,910 Texas Quarter Horse Association Sale Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park.
It was another head back in third to Jess the Leader.
Doc McCrocklin ($17.60), who broke from the rail, covered 350 yards on a fast track in 17.77 seconds. J.R. Ramirez was aboard for Crown Horse Racing and Roberto Madrigal.
Doc McCrocklin has now won 4 of 5 career starts, including his last three races. He is 3 for 3 at Sam Houston. Doc McCrocklin is a son of Dash Master Jess.
The TQHA Sale Futurity was run at Sam Houston this year as repairs are being made to its regular host site, Retama Park. The latter’s meet for Quarter Horses was transferred to Sam Houston this year because of damage Retama sustained in the ice storm that hit Texas in February.
The current meet closes with a card of five stakes Saturday night.
