Do What I Say back quickly for Stormy Blues

In the first two starts of her career, which came sprinting on dirt, the 3-year-old filly Do What I Say was unable to beat maiden claimers or post a Beyer Speed Figure higher than 53. But she dramatically improved when trainer Mike Trombetta tried her on turf, scoring back-to-back daylight victories over maiden special weight and allowance company with Beyers in the mid- to upper 70s.
Do What I Say will seek to continue her success sprinting on turf when she steps up to stakes company for Saturday’s $100,000 Stormy Blues Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going five furlongs at Pimlico.
The rise in class may not be as significant as the fact that Do What I Say is wheeling back just 15 days after her most recent race, an allowance victory at Pimlico.
“It’s short rest, yes, but she’s doing well, so we’re going to try to make it,” Trombetta said. “She’s done well since she hit the turf, so we’ll see how she does.”
Although 10 fillies are in the field, four are cross-entered in stakes at other tracks in the Mid-Atlantic region, which could make Do What I Say’s task a little easier. Among those entered just in the Stormy Blues are European import Elegant Supermodel, a close third in an 18-horse Group 3 turf sprint at Royal Ascot last June, and Coco as in Chanel, a dominant winner in her turf debut over the local course last month.

Hidden Treat, by Lemon Drop Kid
Last 3 Beyers: 69-63-62
