Do the Roar bounces back from DQ to take Treasure Coast

Lauren King/Coglianese Photos Do the Roar, ridden by Carlos Olivero, earns his first stakes victory in the Treasure Coast.

Do the Roar got a measure of revenge Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

One start after being disqualified for stretch interference in last month’s Bonita at Gulfstream, he won the track’s $75,000 Treasure Coast. Do the Roar rallied for a half-length score over El Botas. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Noble Prince.

Do the Roar ($18) broke with the field in the five- furlong turf sprint for 3-year-olds and up Saturday and settled in fourth as Noble Prince took the field through an opening quarter in 21.50 seconds. Do the Roar advanced on the turn, moved past Noble Prince after a half-mile in 45.04, and then kept a surging El Botas at bay to win the race run over “good” ground in 57.31.

It was the first career stakes win for Do the Roar. Carlos Olivero was aboard for Just For Fun Stable and trainer Tony Cioffi.
