Dixie Moon back at Woodbine, will head to Florida
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The 2-year-old filly Dixie Moon finished sixth in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar on Nov. 3, and has resumed light training at her Woodbine base.
“The way she’s come back from the race is a testament to what a nice filly she is,” Trainer Catherine Day Phillips said. “We’ve gone easy and jogged for a week. Now we’re galloping a bit. She’s delighted to be back galloping, I have to say.”
Day Phillips said Dixie Moon’s future plans have yet to be determined, but the daughter of Curlin will be among the Day Phillips string at Palm Meadows training center in Florida this winter.
“She loves to train,” she said. “We’re trying to decide what we’re going to do.”
Day Phillips said she was proud of Dixie Moon’s performance in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She finished just 3 3/4 lengths behind winner Rushing Fall after stumbling at the start.
“She was kind of thrown off her game from the minute the gate opened,” she said. “She never got into her big, long stride. It is what it is. That’s horse racing.”
