Divine Miss Grey drills for La Troienne Stakes

ELMONT, N.Y. – In addition to working Kentucky Derby contender Tax on Thursday, trainer Danny Gargan sent out Divine Miss Grey for a half-mile work in 48.72 seconds over the Belmont Park training track.
Divine Miss Grey on Sunday will accompany Tax to Churchill Downs, where she is expected to run in the Grade 1 La Troienne on May 3.
“She looks like she’s galloping when she breezes; she goes 48 and change with her head bowed,” Gargan said. “She’s a good work horse, and she’s doing really good.”
Divine Miss Grey is coming off a victory in the Heavenly Prize Invitational on March 10 at Aqueduct.
Earlier start, finish on Derby Day
For the last few years, the New York Racing Association has lengthened its Kentucky Derby Day card to the point where last post wasn’t until after 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
While that was the original schedule for this year’s Derby Day card, it was revealed Thursday that the last post at Belmont for the May 4 card will be 6:15 p.m., about 20 minutes prior to the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs.
First post at Belmont on May 4 now will be noon, moved up from 12:50 p.m.
It is expected that post time for Preakness Day at Belmont also will be changed so that the card will be completed before the Preakness Stakes is run.
