Diversy Harbor will undergo surgery for sesamoid injuries

ARCADIA, Calif. – Diversy Harbor was transported to the Alamo Pintado Equine Clinic in Los Olivos, Calif., on Sunday morning, a day after she was pulled up with sesamoid injuries in the $151,000 Santa Barbara Handicap at Santa Anita.
Diversy Harbor, the 5-2 favorite, was racing at the rear of the field in the turf race at 1 1/4 miles before jockey Gary Stevens abandoned the race on the final turn. Diversy Harbor spent the night at trainer Tom Proctor’s stable before going to the clinic, a little more than a two-hour drive from Santa Anita.
Diversy Harbor will undergo an operation to stabilize the injury, according to Aimee Dollase, assistant trainer to Proctor.
“We’re cautiously optimistic,” Dollase said. “We’re trying to do something. She’s a really nice mare.”
Diversy Harbor races for Glen Hill Farms. The 4-year-old filly by Curlin has won 3 of 12 starts and earned $377,440. She won the minor China Doll Stakes at a mile on turf in May 2014 and the Grade 3 Buena Vista Stakes at a mile on turf in February. Last May, Diversy Harbor was second in the Grade 1 American Oaks at Santa Anita.
