Diversify leads way for Bellamy Road

There were five New York-bred Grade/Group 1 winners in 2018 in a banner year for the state program – Audible, Diversify, Fourstar Crook, Mind Your Biscuits, and Voodoo Song. Of that quintet, two are by stallions currently standing in New York – Diversify, by Bellamy Road, and Fourstar Crook, by perennial leading sire Freud.
Since moving to New York from Kentucky for the 2016 season, Bellamy Road has been a classy addition to the Empire State’s stallion ranks, consistently ranking among the leaders in the state. That continued in 2018, as the stallion, standing at Irish Hill and Dutchess Views Stallions LLC in Saratoga Springs, led his adopted state by individual winners (87) and checked in second to Freud on the earnings list.
Diversify scored his first Grade 1 victory in the 2017 Jockey Club Gold Cup, then added the Grade 1 Whitney and the Grade 2 Suburban in 2018, pushing his career earnings past $1.9 million. He ranks as the leading earner for his sire, who also is represented by U.S. Grade 1 winners Constellation and Toby’s Corner, as well as Canadian champion Sisterly Love.
Bellamy Road’s other standouts include Panamanian champion Bellamy V; Grade 1-winning steeplechaser Balance the Budget; Grade/Group 2 winners Bellamy Hope, Land Over Sea, and Position Limit; and Grade/Group 3 winners All Squared Away, Georgie’s Angel, Iczotitla, and Victoria’s Wildcat.
