Distance the question for Bourbonstateofmind

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Though she won sprinting in her only start, Bourbonstateofmind has the pedigree to suggest she’s better suited to running long.
Bourbonstateofmind will get that chance Sunday in a $57,000 first-level allowance race for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct. Though 10 were entered, not all are expected to start.
North Eight Street and Liberty Island were both entered Sunday and in Saturday’s $100,000 Busanda Stakes. Dominick Schettino, who trains both fillies, said Friday that both were scheduled to run in the Busanda.

KEY CONTENDERS
Bourbonstateofmind (Beyer: 73)
◗ On Dec. 6, Bourbonstateofmind won her six-furlong debut in the slop over the inner track by 4 1/2 lengths. She stalked a pace duel, took over at the three-sixteenths pole, and gradually drew away.
◗ As a daughter of 2007 Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense out of the Rahy mare French Madam, Bourbonstateofmind should like going two turns.
“She seemed to like the inner track, and the way she works and the way she ran the other day you’d think she’d want to go further,” said trainer Eddie Kenneally, who is off to a 6-for-12 start at the meet. “This is a much saltier race than the maiden race, but she seemed to improve since that race.”
◗ Angel Arroyo was aboard for the maiden win, but Jose Ortiz, the leading rider at the meet, will ride Bourbonstateofmind from post 9 on Sunday.
◗ Though Bourbonstateofmind won in the slop, Kenneally said: “I don’t think mud was a factor. If the track was fast she would have run equally as well.”
Building Permit (Last 3 Beyers: 68-65-59)
◗ She is coming off a third-place finish in the East View Stakes, beaten 10 1/4 lengths.
◗ She won a one-mile maiden race in the mud at Belmont on Sept. 25 in her second start.
Hot City Girl (Last 3 Beyers: 69-56-58)
◗ Her pedigree suggests she’d be better sprinting, but she won a one-mile off-the-turf maiden race at Aqueduct and finished a half-length in front of Building Permit when second to Freudie Anne in the East View.
Brockolini (Beyers: 58-40)
◗ After winning an off-the-turf New York-bred maiden special weight in her debut, she was beaten 18 lengths in a statebred allowance that had also been taken off the turf. Freudie Ann, the winner of that race, came back to win the East View Stakes.
◗ Trainer Tom Morley is adding blinkers to the filly’s equipment for the first time. Over the last two years, Morley is 0 for 9 running a horse in blinkers for the first time.
Omagoddona (Last 3 Beyers: 54-72-75)
◗ The only two-time winner in the field, this filly has blinkers off after running fourth in a division of the New York Stallion Series with blinkers added last time out.
◗ She will be attempting two turns for the first time on dirt.
