Disqualification results in $373,000 pick six payout
DEL MAR, Calif. - The disqualification of Jamming Eddy from first to second in Wednesday’s seventh race at Del Mar led to the promotion of 17-1 Asaro to first-place and a single ticket payoff of $373,586 in the pick six.
The winning ticket was purchased for $960 at the Lake Elsinore, Calif., satellite facility, according to Del Mar officials.

The payoff included the single ticket portion of the pick six, which had not been hit since the summer meeting began on July 17. Wednesday’s was the 16th day of the 36-day meeting.
The single ticket carryover going into Wednesday’s card was $306,660. Bettors added $103,166 to the pick six pool on Wednesday.
The winners of Wednesday’s pick six races were D.’s Lovely Sophia ($19.20), Mr. Magico ($68), Rattle ($8.40), Toinette ($3), Crown the Kitten ($4.20) and Asaro ($37.80).
Toinette and Crown the Kitten were favored. In the last race, Jamming Eddy was the 8-5 favorite. If the result had not been changed, there would have been multiple winners of the pick six, and the single ticket jackpot would have continued into Thursday’s program.
Edwin Maldonado, who rode Asaro, claimed foul against Martin Pedroza, who rode Jamming Eddy, alleging interference in the final strides when Jamming Eddy carried out Asaro. The margin between the two at the finish was a nose.
The single ticket jackpot pool will have a mandatory payout on Aug. 17, the day of the $1 million Pacific Classic.
