Discreet Marq joins lineup for Fasig-Tipton November

DRF Breeding Staff|Aug 28, 2014
Discreet Marq
Barbara D. Livingston Grade 1 winner Discreet Marq will target the First Lady at Keeneland in October before being offered at the Fasig-Tipton November sale.

Grade 1 winner Discreet Marq will be offered at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale, to be held Nov. 3 in Lexington, Ky.

Trainer Christophe Clement will consign the 4-year-old daughter of Discreet Cat, as agent for owner-breeders Patricia and Frank Generazio. The New York-bred filly, who most recently finished second in the state-restricted Yaddo Stakes at Saratoga, is targeting the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes on Oct. 4 at Keeneland.

“Discreet Marq is as remarkably consistent and versatile a filly as I have ever trained,” Clement said. “From her 2-year-old year to present, she has won from 5 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/8 miles, competing against the best fillies of her generation from coast-to-coast. She is also a very beautiful filly, and should appeal to a wide range of buyers this fall at Fasig-Tipton."

To date, Discreet Marq has won 6 of 17 career starts, and is approaching the millionaire mark with $945,900 in earnings. The filly, a minor stakes winner as a juvenile, blossomed last year at age 3, with wins in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks and Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes, and two additional Grade 1 placings.

The filly is winless thus far this year, but did finish second in the Jenny Wiley Stakes and third in the Diana Stakes, both Grade 1 events. She was beaten less than a length combined in both.

Out of the stakes-winning Marquetry mare To Marquet, Discreet Marq is a half-sister to stakes winner Marquet Madness and to stakes-placed Marquet Cat.
