Discreet Lover notches first stakes score in Swatara

Trainer Uriah St. Lewis isn't shy about running Discreet Lover, and the 4-year-old son of Repent seems to enjoy staying busy. On Wednesday evening at Penn National, Discreet Lover won his third race of the year from 13 starts in the $100,000 Swatara Stakes.
Discreet Lover pressed the early pace in the 1 1/16-mile race outside Johnny Jump Up, took command on the far turn and then was not seriously menaced in the stretch, scoring by 2 1/2 lengths under jockey Jose Flores.
The victory was Discreet Lover's first in a stakes. He is now 5 for 34 in his career after making 14 starts in 2016 and seven starts at 2 in 2015. Discreet Lover, who is stabled at Parx and owned by the Trin-Brook Stables, has now earned $527,110.
Discreet Lover was bet down late and paid $4.60 as the favorite in the seven-horse field. He stopped the teletimer in 1:41.84.
Sea Raven rallied along the inside to be second, a neck ahead of Fear the Cowboy, who lodged a solid bid on the far turn, but flattened out in the stretch. John Jones raced in good early position by tired in the final quarter-mile and finished fifth.
Blue Mountain Juvenile Fillies: Bronx Beauty rebounds
Bronx Beauty rebounded from a fourth-place finish in the Mrs. Henry Paxson Memorial Stakes at Presque Isle Downs and improved her record to three wins from four starts with a determined half-length victory in the $100,000 Blue Mountain Juvenile Fillies.
Bronx Beauty was switching back to dirt after racing over the Tapeta surface at Presque Isle and was being treated with Lasix for the first time by trainer Anthony Margotta Jr. She paid $5.60 as the second choice in the nine-horse field of Pennsylvania-bred 2-year-old fillies.
Ms Teek set the early pace in the six-furlong Blue Mountain while being tracked by Bronx Beauty and 4-5 favorite Indian Beauty, who raced to the winner's outside. Indian Beauty took first run at Ms Teek on the far turn, but Luis Saez took Bronx Beauty three wide nearing the stretch and the race quickly came down to a battle between the favorites.
Bronx Beauty asserted herself late and was inching away at the wire. She was timed in 1:11.09.
Golden Promise finished third, 10 lengths behind Indian Beauty.
Bronx Beauty, a daughter of Liaison owned by the Two W Stables, began her career with a seven-length maiden victory at Penn National and a 4 1/2-length victory in the Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park.
