Disco Time looks to get back into groove in Belmont allowance

ELMONT, N.Y. - Brad Cox has found the same allowance race Wednesday at Belmont Park to try and jump-start the careers of stakes winners Disco Time and My World.
This 6 1/2-furlong conditioned allowance race could lead both multiple stakes-winning horses back to stakes company later this year with the Cigar Mile on Dec. 5 potentially in play for Disco Time and the Dwyer on Nov. 7 a potential target for My World.
Disco Time, who fits this race under the condition “for horses which have not won $40,000 since June 14, 2026,” is 0 for 3 this year, his last win coming in the Dwyer Stakes at Aqueduct last Nov. 8. Disco Time, a 4-year-old son of Not This Time, won his first five races, including the Grade 3 Lecomte at Fair Grounds in 2025, before suffering his first defeat when finishing eighth as the 3-2 favorite in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream in January.

A second-place finish in the Grade 3 Challenger at Tampa Bay Downs in March was followed by an eighth-place finish in the Grade 1 Churchill Downs on May 2. He has been away from the races since.
Garrett O’Rourke, general manager for Juddmonte, which owns Disco Time, said the horse got checked out after his eighth-place finish behind T O Elvis in the Grade 1 Churchill Downs on May 2 and it was just decided to give him a freshening.
“There was nothing there that would suggest he shouldn’t be performing at the top of his game,” O’Rourke said. “We gave him a little time off and brought him back. He’s working gangbusters, he’s a very good work horse, and we’re kind of holding our breath hoping he’ll perform in the afternoon the way he’s performing in the morning, but that’s not always the case.”
Disco Time, who has been firing bullets at Churchill Downs in the morning, will break from the rail under Manny Franco.
My World, a 3-year-old son of Essential Quality, won the Nashua last November and the Jerome in January, both one-turn-mile races at Aqueduct. In February he was sent to the Saudi Derby, where he finished 11th and has been away for the races since.
My World spent most of the summer at Belmont Park, where he has worked eight times leading to his return.
Be You, a 5-year-old gelding by Curlin trained by Todd Pletcher, won the Toboggan at Aqueduct in February. After a third in the Grade 2 Carter and a fifth in the restricted Knicks Go Stakes at Churchill on May 2, Be You got a freshening. He returned with a nose defeat to El Grande O in a spot similar to this going seven furlongs at Saratoga on Sept. 2. He finished one length in front of Over and Ollie, who is also in this field.
Over and Ollie, trained by Rick Dutrow Jr., is 0 for 6 this year, but he has three seconds and a third from his last four starts.
In his most recent start, Acoustic Ave, the three-time stakes-winning New York-bred, finished fifth in the same Sept. 2 race in which Be You and Over and Ollie ran.
