Disco Partner may next run in Grade 3 Jaipur
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
Disco Partner, who looped the field en route to a 1 3/4-length victory in the Elusive Quality Stakes last Saturday at Belmont Park, could run back in the Grade 3, $300,000 Jaipur Invitational, according to trainer Christophe Clement.
Disco Partner, owned and bred by Frank and Patricia Generazio, was making his first start since joining Clement’s Payson Park stable in March. Disco Partner earned a 101 Beyer Speed Figure, the second-best mark of his career, trailing only the 102 he earned in winning the Troy Stakes at Saratoga last summer.
Disco Partner, a 5-year-old New York-bred, is now 6 for 16 in his career.
“I will talk to the Generazios, and we will decide on a next race,” Clement said. “The Jaipur would make sense for him, but he is eligible for the Kingston, too.”
The Jaipur is a six-furlong turf sprint on the June 10 Belmont Stakes card. The $125,000 Kingston on May 29 is a one-mile turf race for statebreds.
Clement won last year’s Jaipur with Pure Sensation, another homebred for the Generazios. The front-running Pure Sensation held off the late run of Disco Partner by a neck.
Pure Sensation has not raced since finishing third, beaten a length, in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita in November. He could start in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs this Friday, depending on the weather, according to Clement, who would prefer a firm course.
Pure Sensation, 6, is a winner of 7 of 19 starts and $928,000.
