Direct Dial, Howboutthiscowgirl score Texas Stallion Stakes wins

Direct Dial shuttled to a 4 1/4-length win over Redatory on Saturday night in the $65,000 Jim’s Orbit division of the Texas Stallion Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to Galactica in third.
The Jim’s Orbit was one of two restricted sprints stakes for 3-year-olds on the final card of the meet. Howboutthiscowgirl wired the field in the $65,000 Two Altazano division of the Texas Stallion Stakes. The races were both restricted to the offspring of eligible stallions.
Direct Dial ($3) was with the pace through fractions of 21.81 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.85 for the half-mile before going on to cover the six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.43.
Iram Diego was aboard for Will Farish and trainer Steve Asmussen. Farish also is the breeder of Direct Dial, a son of Too Much Bling. Direct Dial has now won three of seven starts and $158,320.
Howboutthiscowgirl ($2.60) set fractions of 23.01 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.89 for the half-mile before going on to cover six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.74. Lindey Wade was aboard for trainer Bret Calhoun.
Howboutthiscowgirl races for her breeder, Douglas Scharbauer. She is a daughter of My Golden Song. Howboutthiscowgirl has now won four of eight starts and $125,920.
