Robertino Diodoro, who ranked as the third-winningest trainer in North America in 2019, said he plans to have a division of horses at the Lone Star Park meet, which opens April 16. Diodoro moved into the Texas market in January, when he set up a division at Sam Houston. He’s gone 4 for 13 with his starters and had four seconds at Houston. :: To stay up to date, follow us on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Diodoro said he plans to take a “fairly large” string of horses to Lone Star. “I’m really excited about the whole Texas thing,” he said. “With the purses going up, it gives new life there. Sam Houston has been going well for us. We plan on taking a bigger string to Lone Star. Our spring is going to be Kentucky and Lone Star.” Diodoro, who is wintering at Delta Downs, Oaklawn, and Turf Paradise, said he also plans to send a string of horses to Will Rogers Downs. It will be the first time he’s had horses at the Oklahoma meet, which is scheduled to run for 29 dates from March 16 through May 23. Diodoro won 258 races in 2019. ◗ Lone Star announced its Quarter Horse meet has been expanded from 16 days to 26 for 2020 and will run from Sept. 11-Nov. 28.
