Dickey examines options for stakes winner Flatlined
Trainer Scooter Dickey said he will be looking for a suitable next race for Flatlined, who led throughout in posting a 12-1 upset Thursday in the $149,625 Old Friends Stakes at Kentucky Downs.
It was the first stakes victory for Dickey, 75, since he won the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup in October 2011 with a horse of a similar name: Flat Out.
◗ Hansen, the champion 2-year-old male of 2011, was bought by Korean interests following his first season at stud (2013), but his human namesake, Dr. Kendall Hansen, retained quite a few of his foals, including two who competed in opening-day stakes at Kentucky Downs (Han Sense and Lady Hansen) and two more entered for Sunday – Que Hansen in race 1 and En Hanse in race 3.
After being largely inactive in racing the last few years, Hansen recently told Kentucky Downs publicity he is “glad to be back to racing, actually. I’m not a breeder.”
