Diamond Dollars takes Federal Way Handicap

Dennis Dodge|May 21, 2006

AUBURN, Wash. - Diamond Dollars went to the front at the start and widened thereafter to win Sunday's $40,000 Federal Way Handicap at Emerald Downs by a resounding 10 lengths over The Case Queen, who finished a nose in front of Devons Smokin. Time for the 6 1/2 furlongs was a lively 1:15.60.

Diamond Dollars, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Stravinsky, was claimed by trainer Bill Tollett for Ron Whited's K J Star Stable at Sunland Park for just $12,500 in April. She defeated $25,000 maidens in a dazzling 1:08.20 in her Emerald Downs debut before repeating in the Federal Way. Gallyn Mitchell rode Diamond Dollars, who paid $8.40 to win as the third choice in a field of six 3-year-old fillies.
