Devine Mischief by a head in Ruling Angel Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Trainer Joe Sharp’s first Woodbine starter, Kentucky-based Devine Mischief, was a winning one in Sunday’s $104,000 Ruling Angel Stakes.
Jean Elizabeth was pressed through quick fractions by Alexandra Kay in the 6 1/2-furlong test for 3-year-old fillies. The favored Glamanation stalked along the inside in third as Devine Mischief bided her time while saving ground near the rear of the field on the backstretch.
Luis Contreras angled Devine Mischief into the 3 path entering the stretch. She closed steadily to nail Glamanation on the wire, scoring by a head in 1:16.44. After giving way grudgingly, Jean Elizabeth finished another neck back in third.
Assistant Hannah Salmon put the tack on Devine Mischief, a daughter of the popular Into Mischief who was making her first start on synthetics in the Tapeta sprint.
“She’s a great shipper,” Salmon said. “She’s the easiest horse you could possibly take anywhere. She’s a dream. She does whatever you ask her to do and evidently likes all types of surfaces.”
Devine Mischief ($18) earned $60,000 in her first stakes victory for Breeze Easy LLC.
